While women whine about the non-existent wage gap, they are leveraging their "victimhood" and intimidating the companies so that if you are a straight white man, your chances of being paid the same as a woman or minority, or getting a promotion over them, is pretty slim. They will hire from one of those groups just to give the impression that the company is "helping."
If you are older and you put in your time and you're very competent, why continue to be underpaid while others get to move above you based on their gender and race? It's diminishing returns. Check out of the workforce and make your own way, where your future isn't in the hands of a societal agenda of an HR department.
