For the first time ever, I got called a Meterosexual by a chic trying to compliment me for how I dress. But I wasn't sure how to feel about the label.

According to the internet, Meterosexual is a lifestyle not a sexual orientation. Means Metropolitan and Sexual.

It means a straight guy takes care of himself rather than look bummish, red neck or a thug.

You might be "meterosexual" if:

1. You shop at a top end store. Ex: Ban Rep, Macy, Belk.
2. You own 20 pairs of shoes, pairs of sunglasses, just as many watches .
3. You see a stylist instead of a barber, because barbers don't do highlights.
4. You can cook.
5. You wear a particular brand of boxer-briefs. Ex: Calvin Klein, Polo
6. You shave more than just your face. Ex: Underarm and groin
7. You don't own a pickup truck.
8. You can't imagine a day without hair styling products.
9. You'd rather drink wine than beer.
10. Despite being flattered that gay guys hit on you, you still find the thought of actually getting intimate with another man truly repulsive.

Some of these fit my definition of an alpha male. Self reliant and presentable at all times but the label has the sting of a refined cave man rather than an actual cave man.

Link: David Beckham, Tom Cruise, Leonardo Decaprio, James Bond, Johnny Depp, Brad Pitt are considered metero. .

In Ocean Eleven, I don't think there was that many scenes without Pitt and Clooney dressed in a suit.

Eight out of ten of the above is true for me.

Is this the image of a DJ?

How many of the above is true for you?

It depends what your lifestyle is for. If you do it for yourself, well, crack on. Each to their own. If you do it to impress other people, you're doing it for the wrong reasons.

With view to women, some like clean cut men. Some don't. I'd say the majority are somewhere in between; like, a hygienic guy who doesn't take himself too seriously. But then, as I say, don't do things for other people, do them because you want to live that lifestyle.

Stevo- No that is not what a DJ/alpha is. Most of those things you mentioned are "materialistic". That list sounds like a chic to me.

I've had several girls explain to me what they thought of metrosexuals..........they all thought they were gay! I hear all the time girls complaining there are no men left in the world.....hmmmm....

Here's what a DJ/Alpha is:

1. Lives life on his terms.
2. Solid career.
3. Experienced with women, gets what he wants.
4. Dominate/Decisive/Leader.
5. Not afraid to go his own way.
6. Confident & Secure.
7. Has goals and ambitions and achieves them.
8. Good shape.
9. Dresses well, not over the top like a metro faggot.
10. Assertive.
11. Calm.
12. Ambitious.
13. Doesn't care what others think.
14. Integrity.
15. Ambitious.
16. Doesn't Seek approval.
17. Doesn't fear failure.
18. He knows his value and doesn't settle.
19. Avoids drama.
20. Financially stable.
21. Not easily swayed.
22. Women are an accessory/compliment to his life, they don't define him.
23. Well groomed.

If I understand correctly, nothing on the list applies to you?

I don't see anything unmanly about Brad Pitt, Beckham or J Bond.

Howeistern, I'm everything on your list, this is more so a case of appearance. I would think there'd be more people who care to appear neatly dressed.

Like the movie Alfie: "Clothes is the international language"

If society judge by appearance won't we as DJs do well owning our appearance or am I alone thinking this way?

Metrosexual and the Entertainment/Sports Business
I think what I hear the term Metrosexual, I think of GQ magazine. If you look at men's catalogs and in general what male celebrities wear, they lean in on more high fashion minded clothing. If you think about it, they often will get paid by the companies to wear their products. Tweet the products, featured in interviews in magazines, on camera, etc. In the entertainment business they have to stand out, so their always looking and working with wardrobe assistants on set as well as having personal shoppers as fashion consultants pick out their clothes for them. So much of how they act is in appearance and how us (the audience) perceive them. Same thing goes for A-list athletes. Athletes like Aaron Rogers appear on tv commercial ads... I think even QB, Tom Brady is sponsered by Uggs

Howiestern, that's a solid list for DJ characteristics, not too much on style per say. How should a DJ present himself in his clothing? I think it depends on the person. Be comfortable with what you're wearing that represents your lifestyle, but personally, I wouldn't over do it.

In my early 20s, I wore a lot of metrosexual clothing because my best friend influenced my clothing style and he got lots of looks and numbers, so I thought what the hell I'll give that a go. I later found out that I went too far and both men and women were making fun of me of being too stylish that they thought I was gay.

My later 20s I wore a nice button up collared shirt with expensive jeans, but that was as far as I went for the bars/club scene.

Now in my mid 30s, I've adopted more of a clothing style that compliments my adventure lifestyle. For example, I practice archery, so I have a cool archery-esque necklace that I wear. I also surf, hike, snowboard, rock climb, etc. so I'll wear shirts from outdoorsy shops. I also make it a habit of trying out different outfit combinations with what I got. That may seem over top to some here, yet I don't want a plate or a social sphere to peg me to a board to speak. Just like lifestyle, I like to keep people guessing of what I'm like. I may dress up, I may dress down or go in between. Often enough now, I'm finding both sexes asking me where I got some particular clothing item, which then I could tell a story about hunting/archery, or hiking/climbing.

Too long, didn't read.... be comfortable with what you wear. If you want to wear metrosexual clothes, wear metrosexual clothes, give zero fvcks. Be comfortable in your own skin.

The image of a DJ is the image of a guy who does what he wants without concern for what others think of him regardless.

The basic dj principle is to be the best version of yourself. Looking your best doesn't mean that you are gay or whatever. Being Metrosexual does not affect the basic DJ principles. I would take it as a compliment if someone told me that.

And yes ,8/10 is also true for me.

I've been called that too. Take it as a compliment because that is basically what it is, a Neg from a woman. It means you are stylish and they like it, but they might sense you are proud and tease you for it.

Aside from cooking and dressing well, I think all the other points you mentioned are neutral when it comes to attracting women.
