So college football season beigns real soon. And I REALLY wanted to play for the local college. I'm a little embarrased to mention the school's name but lets say they ARE VERY WELL KNOWN. I visited there coaching office about the same time I found this site. (little over 2 years ago.) I knew I was skinny (132lbs) hell I believe I still am at my current weight. (155lbs)

Anyway there current runing back is the same height as me BUT weighs 193lbs. (HE IS ALSO VERY WELL KNOWN). The whole reason I've been trying to gain weight in the first place is so I can hopefully play for this elite college football team. Just recently my grades at the community college arent good enough to transfer. I'm older than the star-running back on the college football team and starting to worry that I have NO CHANCE. ( A little late to start worrying I know.) So my question is this, should I give it up and quit my dream of playing at this legendary school?

Did Tayshaun Prince let his weight stop him from making it to the pros? Word on the street is that he couldn't even bench 225 once,so what,he's making more money then I ever will and having fun while doing so!

Hows your football technique? Did you play in H/S? Were you good? How much time do you have? Are you qualified to play for any football team? Are you sacrificing anything to pursue your dreams?

From my viewpoint, getting on the team seems to be on the impossible side. If it took you 2 years to gain 20 pounds, I don't think you can gain another 30 real soon. You also have to consider that the players also have been working on their their conditioning and speed also. And, if the college team is really good, their technique must be at an elite level too.

I believe that with great passion one can achieve great things, but considering that your grades are not good enough and you gained weight at a slow rate for the past two years, this goal seems out of your league.

If I were you, I would still go for it to have no regrets, but I would also start working hard on alternative goals and not let football get in the way of those goals.

If you really want something don't it go. i hate the whole, i'm too old or im too etc etc etc. it's your life, take control of it, stay straight avoid messing up and plan for everything to reach your goal. It's hard to do, i know it is cause we mess up, it's what humans do, but it's all trial and error anyway.

What position do you wanna play? And whats this "legendary" schools name? Hopefully you know you have a lot of work to do...A LOT! If you wanna play really bad, eat, eat, eat, lift, lift, lift and run your ass off.

Sorry man, but I mean A) You're 150 lbs. and B) You haven't played football in at least 2 years since you've been out of high school. Someone's got to say it, there's literally 0% chance of you making it.

To even consider making the team you've got to have 3 things: physical ability, talent, and skill. Being 150 lbs and out of practice, you have none of those.

I've been doing speed and agility drills for the last 2 summers and Yes I played in high school. Didn't get playing time I'm believe becasue I was so small. I went to practice everyday (hell somteimes early) but until I stop showing up because I wasn't playing. So I said hell with it. So then my Oneitis at the time promised me a date with her if I scored a touchdown. My high-school coach decided that he would let me start if I came back for the last game. (I played running-Back) I agreed.

I played in Florida for high-school
Gibbs High School was the Name

All I remeber is the ball being snapped and I could see the biggest hole on my right-hand side. I knew my oneitis was at the game because she was the only one wearing pink. So I thought to myself the whole-time "Touchdown, Touchdown" Next thing you know the damn ball bounces right out of my palm as soon as I got it. I ended up fumbling and the opposite team recovers the ball. Plus, We were behind the entire 1st half after my fumble so I FELT LIKE IT WAS MY FAULT. My oneitis proably left the game but who knows. We won the game (Can't remeber what the score was but we blew em out) but I was still devestated that I fumbled. I was supposed to play the next year but I didn't feel like practing everyday just to ride the bench again. One of my teamates from the year before took my spot and had a blowout year. I STILL REGRET THAT SH*T. He then later injured his arm and plays basketball for the community college back in my home state. I decide myself that I hated football and didnt have anything to do with it any longer.

Then one day a college football game was on. At 1st I didnt want to watch it but something made me turn back. I thought it was my high-school team. (The college almost resembles my high schools team colors, and they had the same fight song.) And thats how I got back into football. The college ended up losing them game.

Truthfully I didnt want to play until I noticed there running back playing in one of there bowl games. The team lost but I seen there current running back as an inspiration!!! I went up to visit my dads side of the family and my unlce lived right around the corner from the stadium. (My Family is literally divided by the rivalry betewwn the college I want to play for and the other college where I lived since I was 5 before moving to Florida at 13)

So one day my aunt wanted me to go to the corner store with her. I agreed. So she goes in and Im stuck in the car. I was 132lbs and SCRAWNY as F***. Two guys come out the store and I kind of felt like one of the guys played football. So I asked them both and one guy laughed and said, "yeah I'm the middle linebacker and he plays corner back." So I asked there names. They give them to me and I couldn't believe it. So then the star-running back comes out of the store. I didn't recognize him at the time (He was the one that played in the bowl game)

So I asked him what his name was. And the cornerback is like, "you don't know him? He's the hero of the city and team." Then I realised who it was. He was a true freshman at the time and I met him that summer. IT ****IN BLEW MY MIND. We were the EXACT same height except he weighed around 175lbs. He told me I would have to get bigger if I wanted to play. And I agreed.

I went back home later that summer and thats how I found my old job as a personal trainer. The guy that I met back home owned a small private gym across the street from my apartments. That running backs words were still own my mind so I ended up joing the gym and then got a job there. Fast Forward 2 years and I jumped from 132lbs to 156lbs. (My highest weight that I recorded.) I know the only reason it took me that long to grow is because I wouldn't eat any of the STAPLE foods for getting big. At the time I hated Eggs, Cottage Cheese, Tuna, and Pretty much every other high protein foods. Then One day my boss layed it down to me while we were setting up some cones for a speed camp that our gym was hosting for the youth.

He asked me what I wanted to do with my life. Then he gave me some stories of how he went to the marines and how sometimes in life you have to do things you don't want to do to be successful. He then told me to go home early and decided if I really wanted to go back to my hometown and play football for my college. I went home and there was nothing to eat but eggs. I ended up eating eggs for the first time since I can remeber. I almost threw up but kept reminding myself that if I wanted to play this badley I would do whatever it takes. Thats how I got into Bodybuilding and I found this website around that time.

Correction I'm 153 :cuss: :cuss:
I reecently been doing speed drills that I learned from our gym's camp.
40 yard dash, Speed & Agility, etc. to keep in shape. I been playing football locally since then. But I havent worn "pads" since graduating. so actuall seeing that I'm currently 21, improving myself, and gaining weight there's a 12.7585785489 % chance that I could TRY and make it. AND its a couple more than 3 things. I have to have the drive, willpower, and desire to try and reach my goal.

Team fan day is tomorrow and I'm heading up to the stadium to meet the new freshman and the rest of the team. (I already know half of the team personally and they're really cool guys) I just bought 2 official game balls today. I'm goin to have one autographed by the entire team and keep it as motivation right next to the stadiums poster in my room. The other one I will be carrying around this semster to work more on my ball handling. (Although it's gonna be strange trying to approach girls on campus with my big jug of water for weight gain and my football)

I proably do have 0% chance but I'm gonna try because honestly it hurts. If I would of just went back for my last year. And ate those damn eggs and all the stuff I eat now. Seeing my old teammate getting offers from schools. (I believe he chose West Virginia) The College lost there last 2 games last year. (Rival and bowl game)

I always go to all the home gamesnad i'm usually one of THE LAST people that leave. Last year security let me walk on the field. On night I was locked out of my house so I went back to the stadium and sat in the bleachers till like 4 in the morning. And my favorite memory, Jogging half-way across the city just to make a game. :D Security let me threw the gates free without charge. I got in 2nd quarter. I'm Goning to try for another college in the area. Then transfer here next year. If I don't make it at least I tried.

The college is currently ranked 5th in the AP top 25 poll

dude you need to be playing football on a regular basis competitively. Other wise whats the point in training and not having the match practise?

I could have played professional soccer in England I played at a very high level when I was in my early teens, the reason I didn't make it is because I got injured and didnt go back to it for about 1-2 years by that time I was 14ish, not fit and out of form, I was back at my best by 16 but by then I figured it was to late for me and quit again. You've got the drive and that so just start playing, you'll soon know if your good enough. I regret not carrying on now and i'm only 21

I've gotta hand it to you; you've set your goals and you're willing to work towards them. Don't let people tell you you're not good enough. At least if you fail, you'll know you tried your hardest, and at the end of the day, that's what counts.

how much time do you have? If you have a while, seek Warboss Alex. Tell him your goals and background, and then do exactly what he says. He used to have a idiots guide to approach, but that got taken down. I'm sure he'll tell you basics though. Doing what he says is the fastest way to gain weight.

Here's a preview of what to do:
eat around 15 eggs a day
get 2.0grams of protein per pound of body weight.
Take like 20 BCAA's during training.
Take about 30 grams a fish oil a day.

Dude no offense, but you're done. This is a fantasy. If anything you should try for a Division III school or something similar.
You said you didn't get playing time in high school you think because you were too small. Well let me tell you something, 155 is too small to be out there on a D1 field. There are very very few guys who could make it out there at 155, and the few that could are the toughest hard nosed pitbulls you will ever come across.
Not only did they get playing time in high school, but they were the best player on their team and they didn't let their size hold them back. You think D1 players look good on TV? You have no clue, try stepping onto a field with them. Think of the most badass guy you had on your high school team, add about 30 lbs of solid muscle to him, make him quicker, more agile, meaner, and give him the desire to disconnect your skull from your spine--that will give you an idea about what a D1 player is like.
At 155 the best you could hope for would be a corner or receiver. And if you're that light then you better have lighting speed, I'm talking a 4.3 40. Do you enjoy hitting and hitting hard? Are you good at it or do you tend to "just miss"? Does the idea of a 220 lb runningback of solid muscle taking a sweep to your side and running right at you at full speed in the open field sound appealing? Do you think it would be fun to get up off the field and not know which sideline is yours and have your ears feel like they're bleeding? If not then this isn't the level for you.

Ever heard of a guy called Evander Holyfield?

He was "too small" to play football.
