To radically change you're eating habits to lose weight.im 28 years old 5'11
210lbs.I looked at some of the stickys and the food they suggest eating just doesn't seem possiable for long periods of time or the rest of my life. The way i eat is pretty bad mostly pizza soda sandwiches stuff like that I work at a pizza place so ya pretty hard to stay away from that stuff.I wanna lose like 20lb pounds but I dont wanna eat just meat and vegs.I dont do any exercise at the moment. Can I just do cardio and maybe cut the soda out and eat 6 times a day instead of whenever and lose weight? maybe after i lose 10-20lbs i might be more motivated. Thanks this is a serious question pls dont bash me .

Yes. Probably even more important than exercising.

However, if you make only one change to your diet, lose the soda (and other liquid calories). That $hit is poison to your body in both normal and diet forms. Drink water instead. Learn to love how crisp and cleansing a cold glass of water is. Beats the crap outa soda anyday.

Go ahead do that, go do cardio day in day out like every other guy or gal....Don't come whining and *****ing when you look like a skinny fat person or worse just skinny with not much of a muscular physique. Bottom line what you don't USE you LOSE when it comes to muscle.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Want to have the best possible physique? Train like a natural bodybuilder 4-5 times a week with weights, hold on/gain fat easily?!! Get on that ****in' cardio any mornings you can for 30-60 mins every freakin' time you can. Stop eating all that bull**** and limit it to 1-2 meals a week where you can "indulge" in whatever you can.

We as a country have gotten to soft, pitiful and just full of bs excuses. Man the **** up you're 28 years old and are sounding like a 16 year old girl. YOU KNOW what has to get done but you're just trying to take the easy way out.

Eat like we were naturally ****in' intended to and actually do exercises that require you to be standing up most of the time. Leave your blood, sweat and tears in the gym. Have the mindset of a warrior. Do this for the next 6 months to a year and tell me some magical **** doesn't happen.

I don't know what you wanted to hear, "yeah man cool bro go ahead just do cardio, eat ****ty it's k, you'll definitely drop those 20 lbs fast" sorry bub, do it my way and do it in a few months or do it your way and watch yourself get frustrated and quit like every other sorry ass person who signs up @ new years time.

Don't give me any excuses about not having any motivation or time or this or that. I know a guy who has a ****in' brain tumor that only allows him to sleep 2 hours most nights, works in counter terrrorism and @ times is in two different countries in the SAME DAY. Yet he still gets his ass in that gym 3-5 times a week BUSTS ASS and eats decently. (he does a lot of protein shakes cause of his crazy schedule)

lol bro who the hell wants to eat chicken breast and veggies for the rest of there life im just being for real.there has to be a better way lol

Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.

Np. Small steps for you right now.

It's easier to replace an old habit with a new one than to stop it cold. Every time you feel like going to get some soda, pour yourself a glass of water instead. Soon enough, you'll find yourself just going for the water in the first place.

Don't dismiss what CarlitosWay is saying offhand. It's almost ridiculous how much better you feel by eating good food. And it's delicious. I'd take my grilled Cajun chicken breast with grilled fresh veggies and spring water over some greasy pizza and HFC-filled soda any day of my life, and there's a billion other mouth watering healthy things you can make too.

Just focus on eliminating the soda, increasing your water intake and eating a bit less for now.

Who the hell says you only have to eat only "chicken breast and veggies" ...I eat steaks and pototoes ...I eat 6-8 egg omlettes, I have burritos/tacos......I have my breadsticks/pizzas/burgers from time to time, yet you know what I BUST ASS in the gym 4-5 times a week that's why I CAN. I mean I'm literally drenched in sweat, muscles just pulsating with lactic acid at the end every training session even if I only got 2-3 hours of sleep the prior night......

I at least acknowledge those foods aren't the best thing for me so I live by a 80% rule ....80% of the time I eat pretty damn clean and 20% of the other time I eat whatever the hell I want only one rule it has to have some protein in it. I avoid sugars and if I go crazy one day and binge I eat clean as **** the next day or two or something.

Hell the other day I had some ice cream but I still threw some protein powder in that ****...(this was after hitting some weights)

Grill up some steaks covered in olive oil+sea salt+black pepper, tell me that **** isn't good

fry up some ground beef and rinse it off with water to lean it out, dump some salsa all over it after maybe with some beans and tell me that shi'ts not good...

Learn how to cook....it's 2010. You have the freakin' internet for gods sake, 1000's of good protein based recipes. I'm at the point I know how to cook 10 lbs of chile on the whim, can cook chicken cacciatore ...you know what it's fun and *****es love me.

Yeah it was that active lifestyle **** (strawberry ice cream mixed with chocolate min dymatize whey protein) with the beneficial bacteria/flora for your stomach (probiotics are great for stomach health)

Still had 8 grams a protein a serving, X 2 so I had like 16 grams of protein from the ice cream + two scoops of whey protein (48 gs protein) totat= 64 grams of protein, I threw a banana in that ****, with some frozen blueberries on top and went to ****in' town......

EDIT: remember you're not trying to diet down to get to 7- 8% bf (which is real ****in' ripped ) Go into the gym train have fun (not too much fun push yourself and don't be a pansy) and always try to accomplish something whether it be more reps, better form or more weight on the barbell machine whatever the **** you use, just keep it fast paced don't train like a nancy boy AND ****IN' SHOW YOUR BODY YOU DON'T ****IN' PLAY GAMES. check out my journal and you can see how I train with machines and free weights, follow my routine if you want. Very simple easy, don't listen to these yuppies who say "split" routines are confusing, I have my little freakin' 17 yearold sister training the same as me.

Well there is a lot more healthy food on the menus than just that, but "who the hell" wants to eat like that?

People who want to be healthy, look good, be active, have a sex drive and not have strokes, heart disease, diabetes, worn out hip and knee joints, bad skin and be propped up in front of a TV for 1/2 their lives.

When I first read your post I thought it was a joke, Im still inclined to believe so.

BUT, if you are serious, heres the deal, you are going to be fat and unhealthy for the rest of your life, and the rest of your life is going to be a lot shorter than my life expectancy when I hit 28.

healthy is a life style choice.

If you want to continue to eat pizza and soda and other crap, you can make that choice, but know you are also choosing to remain overweight and unhealthy.

If you wish to become lean, strong and fit, you must eat a perfect diet 90% of the time, whilst doing intense exercise for an hour, every day.

you must do this for the rest of your life. There is no other way.

If you choose health and are willing to make sacrifices, this forum and many others will help you. If you choose to wipe decades off your life stuffing your face with processed junk, dont come back here in a decade and b!tch about it.

Cure.

Your weight, in the long run, will be calories in minus calories out, averaged over every day of your life. The composition of that weight, in the long run, will be the result of sticking to whatever physical exercise you enjoy and pushing yourself with in it. Or, like anything that goes unused, it will atrophy.

At 5'11" 210, 28 years and apparently sedentary, you're fat. Not as fat as I've ever been, but your attitude is on track to make you fatter. The younger you are, the easier it is to lose bodyfat. All it takes is a commitment to keep track of how much you're eating and to do it accurately. Lately I've been using a free iPod/iPhone app that's even easier than making a spreadsheet, but what counts is the recording, not the tool you record with. Otherwise you'll delude yourself.

If you want to lose weight, it's not (necessarily) about changing the composition of your diet (though that may bring other benefits). Though I don't recommend it for a variety of other reasons, you could lose weight eating three small meals at McDonald's every day. You could lose weight eating pizza and sandwiches and drinking any calorie free beverage, as long as your average daily intake is less than your average daily needs.

What is needed is not a radical change in eating habits but a radical change in your attitude towards food. A radical change in habits without a strong underlying motivation WILL FAIL every time. A gradual, progressive change in habits based on an underlying changes in both your attitude towards yourself and your relationship with food has a fighting chance, though you will probably experience setbacks even on this path. Take it from one who is continually re-casting the very unhealthy assumptions about food & exercise that he inherited from his family.

As Throttle said, it IS possible to lose weight on a pizza-based diet. Not that it would be very healthy to do so, but possible. Assuming you will do this, here's what you need to add.

1) Add fruits/veggies to your diet. Broccoli, berries, oranges, tomatoes (ketchup obviously doesn't count), spinach, mixed peppers. The list is obviously not exhaustive. You should have these raw or steamed whenever possible.

2) Drink water instead of soda. Drink at least 1.5L per day outside meals. Pretty self-explanatory and other posters have given you similar advice. Even at a pizza place you must have water lying around, if not then bring your own water bottle to work.

3) Buy a multivitamin supplement (tablets) and take them every day until you finish the box. If you're not eating at least 5-6 portions of fruits/veggies per day at this point keep supplementing.

4) Make sure you get at least 7-8 hours of sleep.

If you follow these 4 pieces of advice you will already see an improvement, perhaps not in your weight but in the energy you have and your motivation to change. Maybe then it will seem less difficult to make and stick to lifestyle changes to achieve your goals.
