I live in the city, so do my friends...so there's not much need of having a car.
A mutual friend of me and my friend got his license not too long ago. On certain days he gets the car to himself (his dad's car).
Frankly I have nothing in common with the mutual friend other than knowing him since H.S. My friend has more in common with him like playing RPG games online.
In the past my friend would always crack jokes about his height. Since the friend got the car things have been different. The rare times we're in the car, my friend hogs the front passenger seat and pretends like he knows the directions in the street (or he wants to seem useful/knowledgeable)...dont know why just seems childish to me. If im at least half awake in the back and I give the right directions (the driver/mutual friend knows this), my friend tells him not to listen to me. But other than that his car is pretty useless he doesnt do anything with it.
Its just weird..but interesting for some reason. My friend respects the mutual friend when he's in his car, or if he's going to need him to drive him somewhere. But otherwise it would be like the old days.
Im pretty sure having a car is a plus for the babes, but i dont see what the big deal of it is if you live in the city. I've debated about getting one, but I have a neighbor in my building who gives me the typical downside I hear from ppl in the city - the time he spends looking for a spot in the morning at work makes him late...now he barely touches it and takes the train instead, and the insurance he pays each month is practically a waste...he too thought it would be a plus for his social life.
