Is having a car that big of a deal?

I live in the city, so do my friends...so there's not much need of having a car.
A mutual friend of me and my friend got his license not too long ago. On certain days he gets the car to himself (his dad's car).

Frankly I have nothing in common with the mutual friend other than knowing him since H.S. My friend has more in common with him like playing RPG games online.

In the past my friend would always crack jokes about his height. Since the friend got the car things have been different. The rare times we're in the car, my friend hogs the front passenger seat and pretends like he knows the directions in the street (or he wants to seem useful/knowledgeable)...dont know why just seems childish to me. If im at least half awake in the back and I give the right directions (the driver/mutual friend knows this), my friend tells him not to listen to me. But other than that his car is pretty useless he doesnt do anything with it.

Its just weird..but interesting for some reason. My friend respects the mutual friend when he's in his car, or if he's going to need him to drive him somewhere. But otherwise it would be like the old days.

Im pretty sure having a car is a plus for the babes, but i dont see what the big deal of it is if you live in the city. I've debated about getting one, but I have a neighbor in my building who gives me the typical downside I hear from ppl in the city - the time he spends looking for a spot in the morning at work makes him late...now he barely touches it and takes the train instead, and the insurance he pays each month is practically a waste...he too thought it would be a plus for his social life.

I would really suggest getting a car. Are you planning on taking your date everywhere by train or cab all the time? your going to always be spending money back and forth going everywhere. Just get a car, its a big plus for them.

I forgot to mention that Ill be moving into a new apartment next month. It will be difficult to be financially secure and try to maintain both at once - with my financial status I can only have 1 and not the other.

I can't imagine not having a car. Waiting for the train, waiting for the bus, walking, etc. Those are such a pain in the ass. But maybe that's just because I am a really impatient guy.

A topic that's been beaten to death.

Depends where you live. Most places in the US, you'll need one, apart from large cities.

In the UK most socialising is done with alcohol and so you won't be able to drive anyway! Plus driving here is far more expensive than in America.

(I don't know what the situation on the continent is.)

I'd say it wasn't worth it, especially if you live only, say, a 20 minute walk or so from the city centre.

Channel your excited feelings into positive thoughts and behaviors. You will attract women by being enthusiastic, radiating energy, and becoming someone who is fun to be around.

Im from NYC, honestly having a car is not essential. but having to take your date home in a train or walk her home is a little lame.

Having a car can become a nuisance, anyone that knows you will bug you to be the "driver" for their social needs...which of course could improve your social life.

Again until I land a permanent well paying job I can only afford the apartment or the car. But I assume the same crap will happen with the apartment anyway, friends wanting to come up and chill all the time...bah.

Having a car only helps,it isn't crucial. My buddy had a DUI and his license suspended and his girl drives him everywhere that they want to go together.
