I did a bit of a search to see if this had been brought up and it hasn't. People have told me creatine can be damaging to your liver or kidneys. Does anyone know how true this is and have you had any bad experiences with it??

Also can someone just tell me what these abbrieviations mean...

EFA?

MRP?

CLA?

Keep seeing them and just DONT know!!!!!

you can also go to menshealth.com and look up lots of stuff.

the crap about creatine is just crap.

EFA = essential fatty acid

MRP = meal replacement plan

CLA = Conjugated linoleic Acid (name of a supplement)

Dying? Cmon.. of course you will die if you do not add water. You will probably feel major side effects and thirst before you die and it will not happen in an instant.

I just started my third cycle of creatine yesterday.

SIDE EFFECTS FOR ME:

Pissing alot more. (dehydration if not refilled with water)
Feeling sick about half an hour after taking it for a short while.
A little bloatness.

Creatine is not damaging to liver or kidneys. There have been alot of studies of creatine, none which showed any major side-effects. It's safe. I searched alot before I started creatine the first time.

Back in highschool a couple of my buddies took 3-4 times the amount recomended. Both of them started pissing red in about a week. Doctors said it "clogged" their kidneys.

Interesting enough when I was in college the medical school down the road did a study on creatine.

Basically they found two things. First is that the loading phase is crap. It is there for a two fold purpose for it. The first, of course, is to sell more product. The second is to give the very small percentage of people whos kidneys can't handel it an early heads up. Creatine is harmful to a small amount of people. Now with that said and the story of my buddies in mind> yes, creatien is not for everyone expecially the ignorant.

The second thing the study found was that after 45 days there was no statistical diffrence in strength or weight gain between those who did the loading phase and those that did not.

my only concern with creatine is a recent theory relating creatine supplementation to overstimulation of islet cells of the pancreas reducing insulin sensitivity.

there is a lot of conflicting information, suggesting that while glucose levels are at times irregular, insulin secretion is not effected

for me its up in the air, but i dont take it only because the minimal increase in mass from creatine outweighs the potential risk until i've really had time to investigate it further
