is being the "safety net" for a girl ever ok?

If you have a feeling (figment of your insecurities or not) that the girl you are with is only with you because the other guy isnt

is that ever alright? or should you have higher standards and walk?

Lol, good question. If you think about it though, almost everybody compromises. I'm sure any girl would take the rich, tall, handsome, famous guy if she had a shot at him. So I don't think being a second choice is necessarily all that bad. Just make the most of your opportunity, and she may end up glad she didn't get the other guy.

Well...I am sure every girl have been rejected at one point of their lives, so technically any girl will be with any guy because another guy is not there with her

True that, but say, the guy is more accessible? Meaning they used to date, he didnt want her now she is with you. Possibly only to make him jealous or something?

Its fine if your getting some benefit out of it, sex for instance, and you dont expect anything more in terms of attatchment/exclusivity then Id go for it, but do not invest anythign in a 'relationship' with a woman in this situation

If a girl ever lets you know that you're her second choice that's what you'll always be. She'll either end up leaving you later or worse you'll marry her and she'll make your life a living hell. Enjoy

If she is honestly just using you to make him jealous and doesn't give two craps about you, then go with what betheman said. But if she likes you and is trying to get over him, I don't see the harm.

As always though, guard your heart. But that should be true in any situation. That doesn't mean never care for anybody. Just always keep it in the back of your mind that almost all relationships are temporary, nearly all of them will come to an end at some point. I've been with my girlfriend for nearly 10 years, but I still wake up everyday knowing that it could end at any time. Being okay with that helps you keep the frame.
