I have my first job interview at a Walmart tomorrow and I'm a little nervous because I don't know what to expect. Can any of you guys tell me what questions they're probably going to ask or any other tips you might have? Thanks.

(I realize this is in the wrong section, I tried to correct that problem one I noticed it, but I can't delete the post for some reason)

The good news is the DJ tips you learn here can be used in other aspects of your life! Asking for #'s isn't much different than asking for a job if you think about it. Be confident, ( but not C&F) tell them how much you like their image and reputation. Make eye contact. SMILE!!!!!! They push a "family image" thing alot. So don't wear your ear or nose rings and hide your tattoos.

Don't forget to ASK FOR THE JOB at the end of the interview. Something along the lines of: "I would really love the opportunity to work for Wal-mart." This is one time that saying LOVE is a good thing.

Most important thing of all...WRITE A THANK YOU NOTE TO THE PERSON WHO INTERVIEWED YOU. Thank them for their time and include that you are very interested in the job. I once got a job because I was the only one of 63 applicants who sent a thank you note. The boss told me that on my first day. Manners count!

Good Luck! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Whatever answers you give should fall into one of these categories:

1. Your ability to do the job and you being suitable for it.
2. Your willingness to do the job.
3. That you are a team player and are easily managed.
4. That your behavior is professional.
5. That you are a problem solver.

Be sure to give practicle examples when you answer the questions. Even if you don't have much work experience, give relative examples that you have experienced in every day life.

Good luck!

Yep, WaterTiger, I got the job. Full time, from 10 PM to 7 AM. I wanted the night shift so that I can see my family whenever they get home from work or school (some of my friends are still in high school). My job is to collect the shopping carts and to stock the shelves. I will make $8/hour, which is pretty good for my first job. I used your advice guys and it worked. Thanks a lot! :D

They will probably ask you your greatest strength and your greatest weakness. And for your weakness i suggest you say something like "I used to have trouble getting up in the morning, but i have since then started going to bed earlier in order to awaken ready for the day each morning. "

This way you are saying something you've had a problem with, but have fixed this, so really your giving 2 positives about yourself instead of a pos and a neg.

4 major tips (no b.s.)

I saw this on the Discovery Channel as one of its human endeavors specials. They conducted an experiment in who would get the job at an interview with 2 men of different race and 2 women of different race. The 4 following characteristics got one of them the job. (Also known as being a "lock")

1. When the applicant faced the interviewer, he/she smiled.

2. The applicant took a step forward.

3. The applicant shook the interviewer's hand.

4. And finally, the applicant said the first name of the interviewers. As in, Hello, Mr. (Blank) Douglas...

This is all true and tried material, the applicant who won was a white male but don't let that discourage you.

Don't forget proper introductions, either.
