I have probably submitted 6 or 7 pictures on hotornot for the past two tears, and I had normally ended up with a 5 or 6 rating after a few months due to people voting 1s just for no good reason.

Like for example, this picture ...

Well, I made a new picture of myself and put it on hot or not, and I have a 9.9 rating and several girls have contacted me through meetme.

I still think it is far-fetched, even though I have had girls of a similar attractive quality in real life. I perfer real life actually.

I guess pictures can be sort of deceptive ...

Take the following 2 ...

You need to shave that shiat. Unless you plan on attracting that trailer trash across the street, get that stuff shaved.

Bling, are you really 14? If you are, mad props to 'ya. That was hilarious!

Rgeere, for the reasons you said HotORNot is not considered Internet dating. Plus it takes a bit more than just a picture to attract women.

Sarging online may not be an art form but it takes a bit more effort than just a picture and a couple of lines, it's actually an all out marketing campaign. It's all about how well you promote yourself.

Actually, I was talking about the meetme part of hot or not that is connected to the random pictures ratings part when I was talking about internet dating.

But as far as promoting yourself, I sort of figured that, except I basically just did the opposite of everything I did before.

Like for example look how nicely dressed I was in the first pictures with glasses on and how clean shaven I was...

I take my glasses off for a few months, grow long hair, don't shave, wear a diffrent hat ... I get a totally different reaction.

I see what you're getting at. That's a good test. I wouldn't do it myself but it's a damn good test.

Here's something to consider, age as an influencer. I bet if we could track the age of the women, we'd see that photos would be the greatest influence of their votes.

Create self-fulfilling prophecies. Always assume the positive. Assume she likes you. Assume she wants to talk to you. Assume she wants to go out with you. When you think positive, positive things happen.

Some pics are horrible, some are cool - you have to accept that...
The pic with you earing the suit - you look like a little nerd, no offense. The pics with long hair - like a cool, laid back guy.
You simple accidentally picked wrong things for the suit picture: too short hair, too big glasses... too light suit...
Long hair pic doesnt have those.
So: you have to be dressed nicely.. but that attempt was not good. You dont need glasses.... and it doesn mtter much if you are clean shaven or not.
Just take 100 pics.. and chose a couple of good one.
For me even 100 doesnt work.. need even more.

If you have a friend who know about photography a bit - go ask him to help you.

You're right ... nearly all the girls that I have as double matches are smoking hott and between 18 and 23 ... I don't see any girls who are older interested or any fuglies for that matter. I wouldn't ever really get any results with the cleanshaven nicely drssed pictures when I had them up.

I am guessing being 24 puts me in that phasing in phasing out period where it goes more from superficial looks to how I treat people. It is hard to tell that from a picture of someone from over the internet.

Girls wants a) older guys b) bigger guys c) well off guys
They think the older a guy the bigger and richer he is...stupid, but itis what they think.

For guys phases are much different than for girls. You may be 20 and be more mature than 27 yo chick.
From some observations I notice girls are into looks... always.
but after 28-29 they start thinking about how guys treat them.
You got so much time...

by the way, what chicks realy dig is cool clothes. Sometimes it miht be very simple... but they call it cool and dig it.
Example: black. Wear a black shirt... black pants.... put a serious look on your face....Anything clothe sis what chicks really dig: your hat was cool, but t-shirt is not a good idea to show...
Experiemnt with clothes!
I know it might look like a waste of tim\money, but since you want to waste some anyway on better pics, consider getting some new cool clothes.

Don't think I am bragging, but ...

http://meetme.hotornot.com/r/?mb=GMHLSZB&key=BVT

Yeah, I agree with you al77 ... I look like a total dork in the earlier pictures, which is sort of what made me want to change. I definatelly need newer cooler clothes, that's a fact.

For now, the opposite seems to be getting me alot of attention in both real life and on the internet. I'll stick with it for a bit.

3rd i would if i was sober.
but come on?

lets just say they'd want to have some damn nice personalities or cash for you to be bragging.

Girl #1: Knows how to dress and take care of herself.
I dont like her face though... and it is 99% of visual attraction.

Are you attracted to well dressed chicks?

Girl #2: Good looking. but what teh heck she is writing in her profile? "I love the air force??????". Thats a serious sign she is in air force (which is a huge turn off by itself), banged some air force dudes... or just immature and are into "cool guys".

Girl #3 Doesnt look like somebody attractive.

You wouldn't have said "don't think i am bragging", then continued to post pictures of 3 of your "double matches" if you weren't "bragging". As for the girls in question, you can do better. Much, much better.

The problem is your pictures, as has been mentioned before. If you'll notice, the ones that you've had a problem with have all shown you in good light - the one that you got a "9.9" on was completely underexposed with the exception of a few glints of light somewhere along your nose and shoulder. If I were you, I'd really work on the image I present to other people. Don't come off as a dork (no offense, but that's what the business suit picture looks like)... with the cowboy hat picture, there were a few problems. It looks like you aren't a tall guy - and the person who took the shot is looking down on you, causing you to look up at them, making you appear even smaller. Do you have to wear the glasses? Can you get contacts? Even if you can't get contacts, simply taking off your glasses for your pictures will help immensely. If you have problems with your eyes when not wearing glasses, keep them closed until the person taking the picture counts to three. As you open them, they take the picture. Works every time. Last, and this has been mentioned before as well, but go to a stylist. No offense again, but when I saw the 2nd to last picture I thought of Kyle on the movie "Road Trip". A haircut by a professional stylist would get rid of this similarity.

So, to sum it up:

New hair
Get contacts
New pictures (by someone who knows what they're doing)

Optional:
Get a tan
Get in shape

The first picture with the cowboy hat and your green shirt, you look like an average guy, there is nothing different about you that seperates you from other men. Plus the cowboy hat is kinda tacky, makes you look like a dork wearing it with the glasses - it does not seem to fit the image.

The second picture you look like a dirt bag. At least with this picture you seem like a laid back party dude and its a step above then your average look alike.

The third picture you look like Bill Gates son. Enough said.

What you should do is keep the dirt bag look (be all scruffy) but get a decent hair cut - you are not the kid from the Terminator 2.

Go and buy yourself some nice cloths that make you stand out. Some of the best PUA guys I know look like dirtbags with nice haircuts and nice cloths. You can pull this off.

And don't believe the hype of Hot or not. Often good looking people are rated lower then they should because people are haters and bad looking people are rated higher because people feel sorry for them. Don't let a website dictate how you look cause it means sh1t.

@al77:

I personally like the chick in the first picture ... she looks like a girl that would want to get involved with me, maybe have a relationship ... she is also a member of the same religious denomination, and there arn't too many guys in my denomination that are well off with women and stay in the denomination; that could work in my favor because we have that common element. She also appears to like cowboys, and I do give off that sort of image at times [I've been told this by girls].

The chick in the second picture looks sort of like the type of chick that would want me to bang her without concern of a relationship. I've ran into that type before. If you take the time to look what I wrote in my meetme profile I sound like someone who has seen alot of places and travelled the world [she apparently does this]. That could have made her notice me as well as the language factor.

The third one is just there, I'm not even going to comment.

There was also a fourth girl there who was a russian girl who lived in washington state, though it appears she deleted her profile shortly after we added each other.

@diablo:

Well, either I am bragging, or opening myself up to the risk of getting praise or critcism which can either positivelly or negitivelly affect my self-esteeme; girls find the second option more attractive, so I am sticking with that explanation.

Excellent advice of the photography, though. I appreciate that.

Just a note on the pictures ...

The first one was taken by my father last october, who is alot taller than me [I'm 5'11].

The next two were taken last week in a cheap webcam with no flash.

And the last one is about 6 or 7 years old ... I think I took that about my 18th birthday.

So yeah, either I am completelly behind the times, outside of the times, or is an issue of bad photography. Probably all three.

I know, the guy that first got me started in the right path was a natural brasilian dj that was smooth as hell with the chicks. He use to help me with my image alot and would tell me how I was being perceived and how to correct it, his advice really did work.
Though, I havn't hung around him in more than a year, probably should go look him up sometime to see what he is up to.

If you are interested in what this guy looks like, look here ...

Yeah, partly why I havn't been taking the high rating so seriously. Common sense should tell anyone that they arn't hotter than 90% of the people on the site. I wouldn't say that about anyone really.

Rgeere, for the reasons you said HotORNot is not considered Internet dating. Plus it takes a bit more than just a picture to attract women.
I will have to disagree with this. Hotornot is the best online dating site out there, for a number of reasons:

1. It's concise: You know what you're getting. There's no huge profiles you have to sift through, and no huge photo albums of girls' cats and j-lo and all that junk. Its a profile you won't read, and one pic that you rate yes or no. Thats it.

2. You will usually get the best picture a person has. If the picture is iffy, chances are they aren't that good looking and know it.

3. Less (but not no) ego than other dating sites. Sites like myspace, facethejury, etc shirk the objective catalogue approach for a juvenile "shout out" fest. Also, ratings are known concurrently with the choice of meeting. At hotornot, you get a yes/no choice without the rating. People cannot gain an ego about this unless they mention it in their profile.

Online dating is only a good OPENER. It does not substitute for real dating. It is a way to meet people, not a way to establish a relationship. Men still need the DJ skillset to become successful in the dating world.

SO...for you, rgeere...

Since the picture is basically your opener on hotornot, if it sucks(which yours unfortunately does) you won't get double-matches.

What you have to change is:

1. Lose the glasses. You look like Bubbles from Trailer Park Boys when you're wearing them.

2. Get a better haircut. A very neat, longer hair style may suit your face.

3. I think facial hair would work wonders on you. Try that out.

4. Stop looking so underconfident and timid in your pictures. Convey attitude.

5. Try to dress more chic, and less country rancher.

You essentially upped your VALUE in her eyes by showing her that, if she wants you, she has to at times do things that you like to do. You are SOMETHING after all. You are NOT FREE. If she wants to hang with you, it's going to cost her something — time, effort, money.
