Interesting study - married people are happier?

A post that takes a look at a study that correlated money, happiness and frequency of sex:

– People who report being the most happy have had just one sexual partner in the past year.

– Married people have more sex than those who are single, widowed, divorced or separated.

– About half of all women over 40 years old reported having NO sexual partners in the previous year. Only about 20% of men over 40 reported the same thing.

– Having more sex was quantified by the researchers as bringing a similar amount of happiness as making (or saving) huge sums of money: increasing the frequency of one’s sexual encounters from once per month to once per week, in fact, created as much happiness as having $50,000 per year.

– Apparently, a lasting marriage creates as much happiness as an income of $100,000 per year; a single person would need a salary of $100,000 / yr to report as much satisfaction as married couples of the same education level and job status.

I think, like the author of the blog post hints, that this is just another part of the social matrix....people lie on social surveys and say what society expects them to say "Yes we have TONS of sex and we are SO happy in our marriage yes yes!"

so..ur saying that people who get married are really lying when the say they're happy, and would reall rather go around having on night stands instead of bein with someone they loved? odd, i guess my parents arent really in love then. no wonder my mom likes my dad so much.

If you marry the right person then why wouldn't it make you happy? I'd rather work my ass off and support a family then be that 47 year old single guy who lives with his mom who thinks he's soooo cool that he can go out and hook up with 20 something year old girls haha. pathetic, those guys just look like scumbags.

So 50% of the women are shagging 80% of the men... I don't know how good my maths is, but that means that women are about 2/3 more likely to be doing more than one person than men... maybe we should invite a few of those old boilers onto the forum?
