interesting first date tip

something that came to me before I went on the two dates I had this week. I decided to bring a pack of gum with me to offer my dates after the meal/coffee we just had to see if she would accept it from me. I figured that it could be a good foreshadowing tool for a kiss close because if she was truly concerned with how she "tasted," she would accept it. Sure enough, the girl I really connected with accepted it from me on our coffee date and I got the kiss close. The other one was a dinner date that at the end of the meal I wasn't too sure how it was going, and she declined it(no kiss). Anyone ever thought of this?
