Isn’t Testosterone Responsible For My Sex Drive?

Contrary to popular belief and cheesy internet ads, it isn’t testosterone that plays a central role in a man’s sexual libido and ability to get an erection, it’s dopamine. Testosterone plays more of a supportive role in our sex drive by stimulating the brain to produce more dopamine. So while low T can result in low libido, it’s because there isn’t enough T to stimulate sufficient dopamine for a healthy sex drive. It is therefore possible for a man to have high total and free testosterone levels, but low dopamine (or blunted dopamine sensitivity – more on that later), and thus a low or absent sex drive. Testosterone’s dopamine-stimulating abilities also explain why testosterone replacement therapy companies advertise that increasing your T can give you more energy and drive to do other stuff in life. It’s not the T itself, but rather the dopamine that T triggers in the brain that gives you that boost. The more you know.

That is interesting.. though it makes sense. Dopamine is a chemical that stimulates the reward-seeking parts of your brain. Sex is an evolutionary reward; being horny is nature's way of making you seek that reward.

Possibly why dopaminergic stimulant drugs like coke and meth make people horny.

It's actually quite a good article, though I don't agree that porn is "damaging" (unless you rub your d*ck raw or something). Yes, it may makes you try less to woo women because you're already sexually satiated, but I think that's a good thing. It brings womens' sexual bargaining power down and makes it easier for all of us to get laid. In theory of course...

Zarky, here's the rub (no pun intended)!

Watching porn may make a man sexually satiated. True. But as far as bringing down women's sexual bargaining power? I don't buy that. Mainly because of the amount of orbiters that women have, and the orbiters want to get up in the panties. Most men who watch porn are consistent beta orbiters anyway.

To bring down sexual bargaining power, we'd all have to become muscular millionaires, or at least sexually attractive to women. In theory of course.

With porn, it's just virtual women. You don't have to buy them drinks, take them out, text them (you can't anyway), hell, you don't even need to spend money on them! Just watch and whack. But the alphas are out doing actual banging of these women, they don't even need to watch porn.

And the sad part? You can't tell men to stop watching porn and then they'll have a girlfriend/ f**k buddy 2 weeks later. Not watching porn constantly and not being a woman's orbiter is only part of the battle. You have to actually bang the girl to have her. For the girl to have you? She just wants your attention.

It all starts with meeting in person.
