Hey guys. I’ve really been improving my cardio in combination with lifting weights to make getting shredded even easier. I’m at the point where I’m running a 5K decently comfortably.

Another one of my fitness goals has been to complete a round of Insanity and P90X. It would burn off a good amount of fat, and make me feel good about myself.

However, I’m also following Athlean-X’s Old School Iron lifting program. To maintain my muscle and look good, I need to continue lifting weights and consume enough protein(.5-1 G per pound of bodyweight.)

So, I can’t stop the strength training. I was wondering if I could do the lifting program, and then add in Insanity/P90X for some additional cardio for my deficit? Will that be too much to recover from? Or can I do it? I’d really like to complete both of these programs.

That’s too much volume. You should maintain muscle fine on insanity or p90x. Focus on that if you want to cut.
Yeah I thought so. Recovering from both would be really difficult.

Thanks for the reassurance. I was just worried I’d lose boatloads of muscle since when I start Insanity I won’t be under heavy squats bench and deadlift.

Speaking of recovery, when I switch over to Insanity, am I able to still throw in a couple runs a week? Just because I enjoy it: helps clear my mind and eliminate some of the stress of school.
