My friend lent me a book called Infinite Intensity by Ross Enamait. It is focused primarily on boxers, wrestlers, MMA fighters etc, but would probably be great for any sport and just general fitness. It is full of exercises and programs that focus on strength, speed and conditioning (no bodybuilding stuff here).

The exercises are primarily done with dumbbells, bodyweight, sandbag, weight vests, ropes, resistance bands, medicine balls, etc. I didn't see a single barbell exercise in the book but I haven't finished reading it yet.

I think I am going to change from what I'm doing (Rippetoe) to this kind of program. Rippetoe is great for adding pure strength and mass, but it doesn't seem to do much for conditioning at all.

Has anyone ever tried out this program?

Ross Enemait is SICK. I used 'undergound guide to warrior fitness' when I only had a few DB and a chin-up bar, then bought Infinite Intensity when I got more dbs and a bb.

This guy is no fukn joke, a former pro boxer and now just pro ass kicker. This is not a bodybuilding book, the guy is probably only 165 yet is insanely strong and powerful. If youre looking to get big or be a professional poser then dont waste your time on this.

His workouts are ridiculously good for a competitive athlete, especially a fighter. They will make you strong, well-conditioned, quick and powerful within a weight class.

Soon after buying II, I stopped boxing and decided to bulk, so I had to join a gym for their equipment and stop the conditioning workouts.

Get a heavy bag if you really want to maximize the benefits. II creates a program for you, I think its a 60 day schedule.

On a side note, he's a nice guy too. I emailed him several times with questions (once even before buying anything!) and he responded the same day.

Yeah my gym already has a heavy bag so I can use theirs, and they have dumbbells up to 100 lbs, so it should be a while before I outgrow those. I will need to get a sledgehammer, a tire and a sand bag though. I'm going to start the new routine tomorrow.

sledgehammer and tire is awesome, I dont know if youve tried it yet. I only did it a couple of times, its shocking how difficult and streneuous it is. You definitely feel the power improvement though.

edit - and youre right, I dont think there are any barbell exercises listed, but im certain he uses olympic barbell lifts himself. If you email him he'll probably give you some ideas.

You're right, I bought a 16 lb sledgehammer at Home Depot today. When I saw "16 lbs" I thought "Hm, that doesn't sound too heavy". But when you put it on the end of a 3 foot pole, it becomes a lot harder. I can already tell this is going to be tough :nervous:

I did the first workout in the book today, the "Magic 50" with the Farmer's Walk finisher. It was pretty hard, my heart was pouding by the last set. I'm excited about this program, I think it will really help my conditioning :D
