Sup all,

I'm still following Rippetoe's starting strength guide. I had to stop lifting for break and my show week, but I'm diving back into it. My bench max was 165 when I stopped, but I've restarted at 135. I figure I'll add 5-10 a week and catch up fast.

This is all on flat bench. Are there any advantages to incline bench?

Less weight on incline but works the upper pecs better which is the main region that gives the manifestion of chest-shoulder mass.

when on rippetoe, use his exercises. do not substitute. he's been doing this longer than you have.

He doesn't specify flat bench, that's why I'm asking. He just says "bench press".

That means Flat Bench, since when has 'Bench Press' meant anything else.

so incline = better for shoulder upper pecs right? it'll give it that broad look.
