Do you realise, in the future, we may no longer need humans to create babies?

The feminists often claim "we dont need men for babies", but they're only half right. We've already developed IVF, but what about artificial wombs? Artificial eggs and sperm? How will the future look when humans are no longer required to procreate?

I guess familes would certainly be outdated - would children then be raised in government institutions? What if some weird government decides to artificially modify kids to become mindless, obedient super-soldiers? Will we have gene wars, between genetically superior humans, and "natural" humans?

You have to know alternatives exist in order to follow them, and then only if you haven't been completely brainwashed, at which point you don't want to follow any alternative and see yourself as living to serve the belief system you hold. This is the problem with civilization; institutionalizing a particular belief system is done to destroy alternatives and enslave everyone to the system and whoever is at the top of that system.

I agree that law and order is better than Iraq, but only up to a point. Eventually, people begin to serve the system rather than the other way around; they become cogs in a machine that exists only to enrich whoever owns it. Civilization and the technocrats who run it view us as labor forces and tax bases or enemies, not human beings. This is the dehumanization I talked about; slaves in all but name.

I was thinking in terms of Amazon Forest peoples or Pacific Islanders (before traders and missionaries corrupted them): simple, peaceful people who spend their days hunting, fishing, and making babies, with no politics, religion, or money to trouble them. In retrospect, what I wrote does sound a lot like Iraq or "The Road Warrior", but that would be the last thing I would want as well. Iraq is a nightmare; it's nothing but politics, religion, and money, those that serve them, and those caught in the crossfire. Gaughin's Tahiti was never like that.

We're not doomed, its quite natural to use violence to resolve problems. Greed is an inherent aspect of human (and animal) nature. Wolves attack those who wander onto their territory. We do the same.

It's not a bad thing; without greed or politics, we wouldn't have survived. Its only a bad thing when you take it too far (ie. Hitler, terrorism, extremist groups)

Successful clones die prematurely because they're not born with their biological clocks fully wound up, but genetically inherit a partially run-out one from the original.
