While I always stay in shape and exercise a lot, I was never into weight lifting in the gym per se.

However, at my work they have a gym so I started lifting barbells, doing mostly curls.

I can't believe the difference in the number of women I'm meeting and their attitudes. Granted, college is out so there are a lot more girls out now, but in the last 3 days I got 3 phone numbers, 11 new names, and met 17 new women. I had to make a list to keep track. Girls are striking up conversations at the post office, etc. It can't be a coincidence, nor can it be attributed to my having larger muscles. It must be something else. I think when we lift we lose the double chin and get a more chiseled jaw within just weeks, and we probably smell different because we process protein more efficiently.

In any event, I will continue this process!

Happy New Year!

Like I said in a thread I made a couple months ago, lifting and/or cardio literally changes the look of your face. It also changes the way a man regards and carries himself.

This can be easily verified. After a period of laying off the weights, look at your face the day after you get back to it. You'll see a healthy look to your face that wasn't there yesterday.

2015 was the turning point in my diet and my lifting has gone up and up. This is NOT changing. I literally feel like **** when I skip a day and am angry. It is not always about the gains and growth , which I always welcome, but for me , most of all its fine tuning my body to work at the highest level possible and for my mind to feel refreshed, sharp and primed.

Lifting, meh. But I'm doing the 100 pushups this year. I've plateau'd and given up so many times in the past. Still I was thinking of it again and again, until I finally realized: I really want this!

If you really want it, you must do anything to have it. Here's to 100.

Yes, daily pushups were how I stayed close enough to being in shape that I was only a couple weeks of lifting off. My success continued and I met a dream girl (age 29) on NYE and she had to drag me away from 3 other girls, both times I saw her. This is how it usually happens, where you meet a bunch of girls who seem interested before landing a girlfriend. However, sometimes they all suddenly fail at once so it's hard to perfect it.

6 months in the gym will give you MUCH greater results than just doing the 100 pushups challenge. Trust me. After a year of consistent lifting and proper diet, you will look a lot better than most guys out there. Just my 2 cents.

It's so much about raising your own value and less about raising her view. What guy doesn't want to look in the mirror and see a ripped mother****er. If you don't know the feeling: it is bliss. Cobra back, buff chest, great arms...c'mon man. Try it. Do it. Get laid. :)

It will attract women but it will also give you an inner confidence that is CRUCIALLY missing from many men.

Being buff doesn't give you inner game but it ****ing helps guys.

I know this is true, but I'm not trying to get any bigger. The only fitness related goal I have flying around is improving at rock climbing, and getting in shape for a black belt examination. So for this reason I like high-rep endurance stuff a bit more right now. And the pushups are really just a bonus - it's this 5-year old challenge, and it's personal.

I'm a naturally big guy, and all that high-intensity and/or cardio is helping me define. For now it's a good tradeoff, because I have maximum fun while getting at least some benefits. Once all that stress is over, I might cut down on the Martial Arts and start lifting again because I'm not happy with my arms.

A refreshing alternative thread to the usual debates about the merits of fitness.

There's no question in my mind, and there never has been, as to whether or not it's worth it to maintain an exceptionally fit body.

any guy on this site who complains about not doing well with women but isnt already busting his ass hard in the gym is wasting time

Absolutely.

Personally though I would say that there are different "types" of fitness (moving iron vs. cardio for example) and that's fine... the fact is that a man who is making himself fit in whatever way his path dictates is going to be noticed by women. As I've said before, a paradox of making your body fit is that it shows first and foremost in your face.
