I committed a stupid crime MDOP (vandalism) a year ago and avoided Jail time by promising to pay a blah blah. I failed my promise and had a bench warrant out for my arrested I posted bail today. I decided that the court cost were to much. I'm just going to do my jail time. It should be about 3 months maybe less. Hopefully if I do this I won't have to do any jail time and my restitution. Is only 95 bucks. The crazy thing is that this is in another state. I could have stayed out of and got on with my life, but I decided to do the right thing. I also decided I don't need a lawyer. Hopefully I'll get 43 to 90 days get out my restition will be paid talk to a military recruiter and see ya later.

So you're going to do the time instead of just paying the fine.

Won't that effect your record? I mean if you go somewhere and try to get employment, that might hinder your chances.

95 bucks....that's it? That's the fine? You decided to do jail time instead of shelling out 95 dollars? I must be misunderstanding something here, that CAN'T BE right.

Well it's good that you decided to "do the right thing",but what I don't understand is,why did you just decide to do the right thing NOW? Why couldn't you have done the right thing FROM THE GETGO and just not commit the crime in the first place?

You could have avoided this mess altogether.

Oh well, what's done is done. I guess we'll see you when you get out of the slammer.

Not trying to be funny here this is all true. My restitution is 95 bucks my court fines and fees are well over a thousand.Add on top of that my new court cost and fees. I don't have that type of money. I wish everyday I did not commit that crime but nothing to going to get done with me being captain hindsight. I'm just going to do about a month and a half get out and do what I have to do. It just a misdemeanor of the stupidest crime. I hate to say this but the courts are all about getting paid. They'll probably try to keep me out to get me to pay but I can't. This is life and something I have to go through. I'm not afraid, the funny thing is I called my probation officer and asked last year could I go to jail because, I just couldn't afford it she said no.

Ah...I see. So the restitution is 95,but it's the court fees that are putting you in the squeeze. I knew I was missing something here.

And you have to pay it all to avoid jail. I thought you just had to pay the restitution only to avoid jail. I've never been to jail, arrested, had a ticket or anything like that,so I know nothing about court cost and legal fees.

I assume if you do go to jail, then restitution fine should be dropped, but I don't see how that'll make up for the court fees.

I don't have that type of money.
I thought you just meant the 95 dollars. Hey,I don't have a grand just laying around either.

Gotcha, but I STILL don't understand why you had the deceny to MAN UP to paying restitution/volunteer to do jail time to make up for the wrong you did,but DIDN'T HAVE that same decency to just not commit the crime in the first place.

But like I said, what's done is done.

Just do what you have to do to put this behind you and move on.

Vandalism is a misdemeanor depending on the amount of damage caused. should not do any long term damage to his record, any serious damage.

Dude I wouldn't take the chance. Call a family member, bed, plead, someway pay the fee.

The job market is already TOUGH, for those with bad records it's even worse.

Good news is your not the first one to go to jail.

Bad news is in level one correctional units which you maybe going to, get ready for daily random strip searches, 10 cents an hour pay for hard rigourous labor and you have to literally watch your back. My dad was a correctional officer and this was some of the stuff that went on inside.

If I were you I would find someway anyway to get the money... If you don't have to go inside, then don't go inside!! How much time do you have? Go on a fast and pray in your closet as long as possible. Call everyone you know, your bound to find a samaritan sympathetic to your situation and give you the money you need.

But if you do go in maybe you'll recieve the good news of Christ, and you'll have plenty of time to read the bible. Your right maybe you should go to jail..lol

i was locked up for a 2 days until i posted bail. i was facing over 10+ years of time if found guilty and my lawyer told me i was most likely atleast getting a misdemeanor at best. Everything turned out in my favor and i was found not guilty.

/i spent 7g's on my lawyer. I borrowed and borrowed and talked with my lawyer for postponements and payments plans. I finally payed it all off 6 months ago. pay the fine. Clean up your record and get rid of it if you can.

If you went to jail in my country (south africa) you would get raped repeatedly. The poor blacks, commit crimes on purpose. They look at the jail sentence as free food free place to sleep.

Jail, army, and you were dumb enough to get caught. Man your life is spiraling out of control. Any way to get out of this without army? You'll be subjected to all sorts of injections, when you come back you won't be yourself anymore.

I suggest some sort of tech school. ITT Technical comes to mind.

It seems to me that even 2.000$ would be a pretty good investment right now. I can assure you even a few months behind bars are awful. People don't appreciate the freedom they have until they loose it. You can't eat what would you like, sleep when would you like, f@ck (actually you can do that but with wrong kind of humans...those with d1cks...don't forget your soap).

And it is cr@p on the your record. Even military take notice and they won't offer you decent job.

Get an attorney and ask him if he is able to get you before the judge again.
Tell the judge that you were not afraid of the jail and you romantically wanted to do the time but now you see that it was just childish and since you want to serve in the military you don't need that stain in your papers. And try to secure a loan or do offer to do some community work.

Or play the tough guy and do your time. But be warned, the real tough guys avoid doing time at all costs. And a few thousand bucks is nothing compared to months of your life.

Don't forget your soap.

This is not racist, its all facts they get food and shelter in prison on the streets the get nothing. but you wouldnt know that because you obviously dont live in south africa. You stupid kvnt dont assume because I say black in a post its racist.

Well I'm here to tell you there is such a magic wand. Something that will make you almost completely irresistible to any woman you "point it" at. Something guaranteed to fill your life with love, romance, and excitement.

Have you ever even been to South Africa??? You are a moron. Travel the World a bit and you would realize what goes on there. The guy is absolutely correct about South African prisons.
Then perhaps you and Hobbit should do the same....poor black prisoners in South Africa aren't the only ones who rape other prisoners.

If you go to prison in Russia, you would get raped repeatedly by poor white prisoners.
