For quite sometime this year ive been having a lot of ups and downs. I dont know how much they can be blamed due to the psychological way i view things or if its something more. There would be times when i feel like i dont know what to say to people or ill want to be by myself and not interact with people. Also i would be pretty depressed and have negative views about myself, the world and the future. I would always try to do something about it, which resulted in my reading a lot of self-improvement stuff. At first it worked rather well, but as the cycle continued it took longer and longer for me to feel "normal." On the other spectrum during i would have "manic" episodes is you will. I would feel charming, intelligent and would know what to say to people, or so i thought. The thought of seducing women tickled my funny bone. Each time i go into an optimistic state i know its going to end a week later, and sure enough it does. I can usually feel it coming. I start getting more quite and more intraverted. I try to stop it and stay consistent but i have no luck. While in my "depressed" state i exhibit qualities that my make stomach cringe. I become more indecisive and let people get away with more sh*t; i also feel like people think i'm a homo and like everyones talking about me because i show a lack of confidence or something. I've been trying to figure out what the catalyst to all this is but i have no idea. There is always something that sends me into a downward spiral that i'm virtually helpless to control. I seriously don't even know what to think of myself, so i can only imagine what other people think of me.

You been here over 4 years and you don't know what to think of yourself?? You should think highly of yourself even if you feel others don't or imagine that others don't.

I don't think you are bi-polar, you just lack confidence. Hit the gym and go get yourself a hobby or two. Forget about girls for a while and avoid people who are trying to sabatoge your well being (even though you should not give a flying fvck what other people think of you as long as you think highly of you, that is what is important).

However if you continue to label yourself a bi-polar you won't be helping yourself. Your goal is to find away out of this hole and find things that will make you happy and fulfilled rather then concentrate on the things that don't.

So go see a doctor. You can't diagnose yourself with bipolar, and if you are bipolar you can't treat yourself.

If the doctor says you're not bipolar, you'll stop using that as an excuse. Quite frankly, everyone feels happy sometimes and depressed other times. That's life. Labeling your "happy states" manic, and expecting to be depressed in a week sounds like a recipe for self fullfilling prophecy to me.

But odds are with today's drug culture you will get doped up on a Xanax and Zyprexa coctail for the rest of your life whether you're really bipolar or not.

i thought i was bipolar. i just have clinical depression with some other shiit. i dont take pills for it, im not getting doped for something thats all in my head.

youre just spending too much time thinking about how you feel. get out there and do something (other than get drunk all the time) to take your mind off it. you gotta get a positive coping strategy.
