Though I'm not bad looking, I look much younger than I am. The thing that I find strange is, if I dress with nice clothes (I asked a few young female shoppers in a store and they said my selection looked very attractive), I get less eye contact and flirtatious smiles than when I wear old baggy t-shirts and work jeans. Why is that?
What about hair style and length. My hair was was getting shaggy and when I cut it people said I look WAY younger with short hair. What would be a good length and style, that still looks sharp but won't make me look much younger?
Try being 18 and have to explain and waste time doing it trying to convince everyone you're not 14. Yeah, this happened all the time.
I suppose there are some good things that come from it, but when it comes to women, it can be a bit of an obsticle.
1) If you are just a little younger than most of the people you're out with, don't EVER mention your age. I made the mistake of being honest with the 28 year olds at a singles meet when I was 22- today, and a lot of them freak out about it. Although, luckily, they're FINALLY starting to get some younger women in this group.
2) Sometimes a goatee, beard, or mustache can make you look older. Then again, if you're like me, you look like a hormonal teen trying to look older by growing a mustache. Lol.
3) CARRY yourself as an older person. I will admit that sometimes, I don't carry myself as well as I should.
4) watch what older people are dealing with, and try to match that. If you're talking about paying your bills or having to deal with tech support companies, you might do better than if you only talk video games or parties you went to.
5) Similar to number 4, become a little more worldly. By the time I was 20, I had been to England, Scotland, Ireland, Dominican Republic, and all over the US and Canada. My parents were a part of a travel group for geezers, but I can say that... I've slept in castles for a few weeks... that I loved visiting Oxford, that my favorite place was England... so on, so forth.
Those are some of my ideas. Take them with a grain of salt if you'd like, but maybe there's something you'll get out of this.
