No offense, but wouldn't it have been more prudent to have looked into what it was you were going to have to do before signing yourself up? "Oh you need infantrymen? Sign me up! I won't ask what that might actually mean! Typical Jarhead...

When I finish my degree, mid next year, I think i'd like to join one of the australian armed forces, and senzio your post was a good wake up.

I'm in pretty good shape already.

eg. I'd kill the crunches + pull ups and I assume I would make the run, but I can't be sure because I haven't done it.

BUT the rope climbing for example, is a great idea, being able to do that sh*t before you need to do it.... awesome!

Oh, shut the hell up. This guy is in the vast minority, and I should know - I live a few miles away from the Marine capital of America, Camp Pendleton. Enough of your liberal "typical jarhead" lameness.

Well I'm here to tell you there is such a magic wand. Something that will make you almost completely irresistible to any woman you "point it" at. Something guaranteed to fill your life with love, romance, and excitement.

work out

k-wiper,

I am ex-Airborne and also, at one time, was assigned to the the 7th Special Forces at Ft. Bragg N.C.

I recommend that you start working out and running 2 or 3 days a week.

Once you are up to an easy 4 mile run you will have it made.

Also, buy a school book bag and fill it full of rocks and walk a mile or 2 a couple of times a week.

my 2 cents

Also,

Swing by a ROTC or a JR-ROTC and talk to some of the 'jar-heads' there...........

They will give you some good tips.

Senzoi has pretty much labeled everything you need to know. All I can input is read your contract, if you have any bonuses and ect that your recriuter told you about make sure its in the contract and that the recruiter hasn't f*cked you over. Thier jobs to get you in and thats it, after your training they ain't obligated to do anything else they promise if its not in the contract. Also if you changed your mind its not too late to get out, if you haven't hit boot camp your not obligated to go, no matter what the recruiter says.
If you go through with this, then good luck man. Itll physically suck but its all about mentality, they will try to break you Ive heard storys about the first day.

Ps. If I were you Id try to squeeze 800$ a month from the gi bill for goin full time student instead of the what 230$?In the end you'll recieve the same amount but faster. I don't know how you Marines run but I had a buddy whos in the army that did that. Try to pull in as much as you can.

Oh one more thing before you ship out and leave for bootcamp get plenty of sleep and rest so your energitic its gonna be a loooong day when you arrive. Good luck soldier.

To those of you unable to sense humor in a statement, "Typical Jarhead" was said with affection, not disrespect. Several of my family members and friends are either in the service or have been before - my uncle was a full bird before retiring... so hold your horses.

Hate - that's usually because the USAF generally has far laxer physical requirements after passing the initial phase of training - think stationary bicycles and elliptical machines...

You apparently didn't receive the memo that humor was banned from this site early 2003.

Lol Here's a question for you:

Dear Dr.Beard:

I was just wondering if over in the UK, you guys say "Hey, can i bum a fag off of you?" When you ask for a cigarette. 'Cause if you do, it would be pretty hilarious.

Signed, Italo.

PS: You need your own "Ask Dr.Beard column".

It doesn't matter how good-looking you are, how romantic you are, how funny you are... or anything else. If she doesn't have something INVESTED in you and the relationship, preferably quite a LOT invested, she'll dump you, without even the slightest hesitation, as soon as someone a little more "interesting" comes along.

That was true during the 1990's but the AF has gone back to a more traditional pushups/situps/2 mi run. But yes, in general, the Marines have the highest physical standards and the AF has the lowest. The AF does have higher asvab and educational standards.

"No, no no. I am not talking about circuit training or running from one machine to another in the gym like it is an obstacle course. That is a good way to not only lose your membership, but to be carried away by the guys in white suits to the funny farm."

giovanni, try to keep the thread on topic.

kthx.

Suck my nuts. On topic enough for you?

Men frequently err by talking too much. They often monopolize conversations, droning on and on about topics that bore women to tears. They think they're impressing the women when, in reality, they're depressing the women.
