For approximately the last two years i have been dealing with Lateral patellar subluxation. For those who don't know, basically my knee cap is too high, and it presses against the bone. The pain can get so bad that i can't even run sometimes. I am a pretty athletic person, who found ways to get around this condition. But lately I am having trouble doing simple things like playing basketball. Doctor is no help, because all he does is offer pills and tell you to work out your legs. I have been working my legs for about 3 years.

The pain is getting worse, and I am really afraid to imagine how it's going to be when I am 30. (I am 21). I would be very greatful if someone here can offer me some advice on dealing with this problem. I would trade anything to be able to have pain free knees.

I wish. According to my doctor, surgery is very risky for this condition. I am hoping to find someone who had this and found a way tod eal with it.

Have you just seen your GP about it?

It always pays to get a second opinion about everything, especially medical. If the pills aren't helping and the GP isn't giving you an option seek extra advice.

Go see another specialist about it, possibly get a refferal through a physio?

Also if it is your GP that gave you this diagnosis he will know NOTHING compared to a specialist, this happened to me when I broke my wrist.
I was told by 2 GP doctors to just 'let it go' and then I saw an orthopedic surgeon to get it put in plaster and he said had I 'let it go' he would be operating on my wrist right now instead of just casting it for a month.

Get advice and get a lot of it before you draw conclusions,

All my best,
Auron

You should always get at least 3-4 medical opinions, especially if its serious.

Here
I trust doctors about as much as car salesmen and telemarketers. With that said, get a 2nd opinion. And 3rd.

I got a sorta problem too.. it's my hips.. I can't run for too long.. I can run for about 10 seconds.. then BAM insta-pain.. doc told me if I really needed to do something important.. I could go get staples in them and no more pain.. or anything.. dunno if that could work in your lil' predicament.. but that's my two cents.

Have you tried knee bands? They may help a little bit. I know when i play basketball i need to have a wristband because my right wrist is a bit weak.
