I don't know why I didn't mention this to you guys before. I work very part time (like 12 hours a week tops) promoting a few of the night clubs here in las vegas. Basically I get comp entry passes and ladies passes to give out to people around town. Typically I hang out on the strip or at bars, which isn't too far from what I usually do and have to talk to people and give them passes to clubs. Since I'm very social I guess it's not really that much of work persay for me as I'm likely to be found in these places anyway doing that kind of thing regardless. I get paid based on how many people actually show up and get into the clubs or lounge. My target audience is attractive people for two reasons. 1. The clubs don't want ugly people to be seen going in ahead of attracitve people and 2. Since it's likely the doorman won't let the ugly people in anyway, it behoves me to only give the cards to attractive people otherwise there's a chance I won't get paid.

I think this is a great job for those of you who aren't so willing to do cold approaches because you're motivated with the promise of money and it gets you comfortable talking to girls who you might of just stared at regularly because you have an ice breaker with you. If you guys have popular nightclubs or bars in your town and are looking for some extra cash you should ask them if they're hiring promoters. It's a fun easy and confidence boosting job.

Do you just call up a club or walk in and ask if they need promoters? About how much can you make in a days work? Seems like a good way to get connected in a city and I'm always looking for extra cash.

All you really have to do is go to or call a club here in vegas and ask if they're looking for anymore promoters for their teams. I promote for a few clubs s and lounges just becuase you can make more money if you're catering to a larger market. That's pretty much it, after you're hired you start work almost immeadeately. You'll be assigned a color for your entry pass cards and sometimes they'll put your name on the guest list. Really though you want to be focusing on handing out entry cards first. Guest list is easy but it doesn't reaquire you to do any approaches. Handing cards requires socialization which is what you need to succeed in the club industry. I just dropped of 200 or so cards around a few bar aournd town so I'm not working tonight persay but I also hand them out at my other job at the mgm for any hout girls I come across. Really you can do it anywhere at any time and you're really always working. Call aroundthe nightclubs and see what's available. Since there are new clubs opening up I imaigine almost all of them should be looking for promotions help.

How much you make really depends on how many hours you work, where you go and how smart you are about socializing. I do this all the time but I'm not really WORKING at it all the time. Like sometimes I'll go in to which ever club to get my passes handed out, the promotions leader might as me to go around to some of the stores we have established a realationship with and see if they're stocked up with passes. So I'll do that for one or two hours sometimes. Keep in mind this job is completely commission, as in no hourly wage. In that respect I wouldnt say make this your primary job. But if you're REALLY good at socializing and networking, I suppose you could make about a grand a week maybe (I make about 300 a week doing it part time) If you know alot of bar tenders where hot girls like to drink or something to that affect, it's possible you could make more, but more then likely they'd give you a hosting position because you're so juiced.

Bump: Update!

Wow after I posted this I was contacted by a prominant promo company! This means I can consolodate my independant contractor status and get my paychecks from one place!! I just "wowed" the director of the company with my contacts list and socializing ability so I'm on probation till the end of the month to show my stuff then I'm going to get my own team!! This is huge for me cause that means I'll be making money from my own merits and from the merrits of my team, which I'm hoping I can hand pick myself. The icing on the cake is I now have access to just about every guest list and VIP bottle service in vegas (where as before it was limited to 4 clubs). Not like it makes a difference but myself and my friends all get into all night clubs in vegas for free...not like we were going to pay anyway.

Talk about your kick ass day!

this definitely helps for some places that pay you hourly and so on for doing presentations B2B, my buddy tried applying to one of those with no experience and he says a guy that did club promotions got it instead of him (he says the add said no experience necesarry, talk about lies)

we got those in my city too....THEY ARE ANOYING AS HELL.....ON EVERY FREAKING CORENR DOWNTOWN. I seriously wouldn't want to be one of those guys.

It's kinda sad watching it.....getting rejected every 2 minutes.....some chicks even walk right by them with out even looking at them, like they are bums begging for cash.

Spider brings up a good point. In order for you to have a shot at being semi sucessfull at this, make sure your town is at least some what known for night clubs or venues of the like, otherwise you might be viewed as a pest. Obviously ontario is not the ideal place to set routes but if you live in say, miami, NY, LA, etc etc (I'll just name the big three ) what you offer is in demand and is something people look forward to while they're there.

People from as far as Ohio come over because of 19 age limit for drinking.

I think what makes a difference is IF YOU WORK FOR A KNOWN, HARD TO GET INTO, HIGH CLASS CLUB. That's when you can have your picking...(people might actually look for you just to get in).

However, if your in a small city, where all the clubs are in one area, and competition is HARSH (to say the least) it's different.
