I would answer something like: "When you say single you mean how long since I had a LTR or...?" By saying that she understands that you ain't having problem with finding girls cause she'll think you get lucky from times to times! You can say w/e you want about the LTR but if she asks you about the last time you had sex you can simply say, "It hasn't been a long time since then but what does it matter? (and cast a smile)"

I would look very serious and confused and say, "Who said I was single?" wait a few seconds then smile, laugh, say "You know I was joking" and change the subject asap. This is a trap question, best to be left unanswered.

A lawyer trick for not answering a question is to attack the definitions of the words in the question, for example, "that depends upon what you mean by single." This derails the question into a side debate about the true definition of single.

When a girl asks how many women I've had sex with, I always steer the conversation into the never-ending debate of whether a midget should count as 1 or 1/2 :D

Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.

You already have problems with the girl if she's asking you questions like that. She's trying to fault with you already so she can use it against you later. If you met a girl you really liked, wanted to have sex with, wanted to be with 7/7 days during the week, would you ask "how long have you been single?" Would that help getting to know her? Would that help the relationship progress? No. It's ammunition to use it as an excuse later or a current excuse not to date you.
