I can't choose for myself

Okay so every time I find a girl I think I like and I think shes cute ill show my friend who's like a brother, his opinion is very important to me and will basically sway my opinion, an example being ill show him and he'll say I can do better or that she's not cute and when he shows me a girl he likes i don't think she's very cute either.. I say we have different taste but he insists that I have bad taste. He basically ruins all of my decision making when it comes to women and I don't know how I can tune his decision out I guess I'm basically trying to gain his approval.. Any help as to how I can tune out his opinions? I guess I just need a pep talk?
