Hybrid SUVs

What does everyone here think about the idea of Hybrid cars? Personally I don't like them. They cost more, and they always remind me of tree-hugging hippies. However, last week the Government of Canada announced in the Federal Budget that they will be offering a $1000 rebate on Hybrids. I'm not interested in saving the environment, but I am interested in saving money.

I was thinking of buying a new Ford Escape this year, thats the only reason why i'm considering a Hybrid. The Escape Hybrid doesn't have a V6, which sucks, and it costs about $5000 more, but it is much easier on gas.

So my main question is, do you think Hybrid SUVs wille eventually replace Full-Size/Mid-Size SUVs? In 4-5 years if I goto trade in the Escape which will be worth more, the 4x4 V6, or the Hybrid?

And most importantly, do you think gas prices will continue to rise in the coming years?

They're gay, I prefer gas guzzling.

Know what I'm gonna do? I'm gonna get myself a 1967 Cadillac El Dorado,
hot-****in'-pink, with whaleskin hubcaps and all-leather cow interior and big
brown baby seal eyes for headlights... yeah! And I'm gonna drive around in
that baby doing 115 miles an hour, getting 1 mile per gallon, suckin' down
quarter pound cheeseburgers from McDonald's in the old-fashioned non-
biodegradable styrofoam containers... yeah! And when I'm done suckin' down
those greaseball burgers I'm gonna toss the styrofoam containers right out the
side, and there ain't a goddamn thing anybody can do about it.

When you talk about Gas, I gather you in Northern America mean Oil? As in petroleum?

Either way, yes, the price will keep rising, WITHOUT DOUBT, until the point we will see a rapid rise in prices, probably in several more years.

Hybrid is definately the way to go if you want to conserve money.

Which will be worth more in a few years? Hard to tell, as the price of "gas" continues to rise, there will be a shift towards smaller, more fuel efficient cars (this is already strongly in effect, as evidenced by statistics on the topic). So therefore, people will be less willing to pay for these SUVs that chew gas down so quick, pushing their price down. However, hybrid cars will become mass produced eventually (assuming no introduction of further technological development, which is unlikely), and this will decrease their price.

Either way, its safe to say that in the long-run, a hybrid car is more cost effective.

Hybrids are for poor left wing losers. You need to guzzle gas for freedom!
I am relatively wealthy (at least for the moment), and I would drive a hybrid.

Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.

Hybrid SUV sounds like an oxymoron to me. Isn't their millage only about as good as regular cars (30ish mpg)?

If you want to save money on gas, get a real hybrid. If you want to feel like your d1ck is bigger, get a real SUV. Don't half ass it.
