This topic has been on my mind lately. Which type of humor is better when it comes to attraction? Is the witty guy who can twist words into something humorous more valuable than the man who can tell jokes and share funny things on Facebook?

Both can generate the same reaction from a woman. Both will make her laugh. But does a woman actually notice when the man doesn't need the aid of others to make her laugh?

Thoughts?

There's memorized humor.

There's spontaneous humor.

There's the skill of knowing when to use either.

Three different variables.

That being said...

One day this guy goes to prison. So he's out walking around, and he finds a bunch of guys huddled in a circle, all laughing. He stands at the outside listening, and all he hears are people saying numbers, and then everybody laughing. Finally his curiosity gets the best of him and he asks some guy what's what.

"Oh, we've been in here so long we've all heard the same jokes. So we've all got them memorized, categorized, numbered. Saves time," he says. The guy nods, thinks about it, and finally decides to try his luck. Finally a long enough silence allows him to step in the center of the circle.

"48!" he shouts.

Nothing. Finally one guy shakes his head and says to the guy next to him:

"Some guys just don't know how to tell a joke."

A FB convo I just had about 15 minutes ago with a HB I'm currently courting. We haven't went out yet.

HB: I'm in Texas right now
LL: Oh yeah, doing some bull riding are you?
HB: No, a work conference. It's boring!
LL: I was gonna say, I am... You can ride me like......I mean.... we have better bulls to ride here in Illinois than down there (emoji of a cow and smirky grin)
HB: haha
LL: All right well I know some folks in Texas, I will call and warn them that you are in town so they can dead bolt their houses and hide
HB: hey now, that's not necessary! I'm a good girl!
LL: suure you are, and I'm Brad Pitt!!
.....

This is a random snip of how i roll, again, hot off the presses. What kind of humor is this? I'm not sure how to stamp it. "Lefty Humor" maybe. It's mostly clean with a TINY bit of sexual innuendo here and there. But sex doesn't dominate the convo..

Dark, dry humor is my humor of choice. Being slightly self-deprecating is cute to a lot of chicks and subconsciously communicates to people that you're able to roll with the punches that life throws at you, and that you're creative and intelligent enough to not take setbacks too seriously because you know you can always find a solution. Natural witty humor it is.

My brand is definitely on-the-fly, spontaneous wit. Women do find that attractive. I do notice that most women describe "good sense of humor" as one of their "must haves" in a man.

Women also love stories, so pre-memorized jokes are effective with some women as long as the guy knows how to tell that kind of joke. It's certainly not my strong point. I think that wit has the edge, but both are effective. Spontaneous wit can be deployed at any time. Not so much with jokes. A witty remark that bombs can be quickly repaired because it is a fleeting moment. Conversely, she has invested in listening to a joke with a story, so a bomb there registers more heavily on her balance sheet.

Humor is something in the relationship phase that keeps a girl around.

If she's attracted to you, you can say this for example:

Q; What do Billy the Kid, Dennis the Menace, Sonic the Hedgehog, and Winnie the Pooh have in common?

A; They have the same middle name, THE!

And it'll be funny as hell. Use this same joke if she's repulsed and she'll want you to go to hell.

Or, at most you'll be the beta jester orbiter.

Humor doesn't cause vaginas to tingle. It's the person using it that does. Nor does using humor make you any better looking.

Humor is cool no matter how you slice it. It's just something in the grey area of attraction.
