how to stop talking to a girl

so a while back i posted a thread about going for this girl, but i've decided not to because i know how she is now.

some background: we're like really good friends, we've been friends since 8th grade(we're in 10th now) and we talk often.

has anyone else had this problem? having feelings for like their best friend? what did you guys do to like get rid of the feeling?

you get out there and you meet some one else and you go out with them and have a blast and those feelings for your best friend will subside.
once you mix those kind of feelings with your best friend, things are never the same.
you either stay together forever and call yourselves true loves and soul mates and go to reunions together or you end up breaking up because timing isnt in your favor and the friendship severs.
