Family says son killed by police in ‘swatting’ was unarmed

A male came to the front door,” Livingston said Thursday night. “As he came to the front door, one of our officers discharged his weapon.”

Any chance for his family to have any kind of reparation or it falls in the "it happens" field?

If he really did walk to the door unarmed and get blown away, then the family will get something in a settlement. He may have had a non-weapon item in his hand, like a flashlight, tv remote, etc.

The biggest thing that needs to be taken from sad stories like this is that police departments need to stop accepting as truth anything they are told over the phone. I know a kid who was committing the crime of illegal fireworks and had a half-dozen cops roll up guns drawn on him, because some crotchety old people called them and said he had a gun. Lying to the cops is a felony, but that crime almost never gets prosecuted, especially when old people do it.

I doubt it. All the cop needs to do demonstrate believably that he felt for fear of his life. It doesn't matter if the guy had nothing. He was acting on a tip, he approached the house thinking it was filled with bad guys, and the guy flinched wrong, and that's enough.

Another reason to be nice to your neighbors. Anybody can make an anonymous tip that the guy in house X was carrying in a bunch of guns and it's all over.

WTF... that's disgusting...

If you read the titles... it said people on twitter are calling this ''swatting''

The USA police and easy trigger is soo bad.. people are now making fun of it on Twitter and creates prank... basically if you have someone you hate... just call 911, have a story, give the adress, the guy will be killed by cops for no-reasons...

If someone used the ''prank call ids''... its really easy to hide where you calling from or the ID... it will take days to weeks to find the caller... if he didnt change phone.

More reason, not to live in the USA

The guy who did the prank and the police officer should be jailed

Basically it is considered terrorist in Russia to report false bomb or hostage situation, up to 7 years in prison.

This kind of sh1t will continue until either of two things happen, a) cops begin to get real punishments for murders, life in prison, or death, or b) you take away guns from police by creating a law like in Russia, which prohibits the use of a weapon unless bad guy shoots first - forget about what he thought is threatening.

As a cop I always try to put myself in the position of the officer when I hear stories such as this. I generally side for the officer more often, but not in every single case.

In this case, I have to ask 1) did the guy actually have a gun (which according to his mother, he did not) . OK, so then 2) what did he have in his hand that was mistaken for a gun? A drill? A flip phone bent at 45 degrees? What? My thought is that if it turns out the guy did not have any gun, nor did he have anything that looked like one, just reaching for the wasteband alone is not enough to take the shot. Not for me anyway.

Regardless of any of that, who was watching the guy with binoculars? If multiple swat guys were there I sure as hell hope at least one of them was watching him with binoculars or a good scope where they could zoom in.

hhMmmmm. At this point, I'm leaning towards saying that this officer really fvcked up... And now the rest of us cops get more sludge poured in our "bad rep" bucket for his trigger happy finger.

logicallefty what this one makes you think?
begins at 10 in
This is a police raid, either drugs or mafia related, or it could be that it was ordered by another business, anything is possible. Do you find it brutal?

When I watch Shaver video and compare to this, I take this sh1t any day. By the way, it happens rarely.

On the other side, this is what swat --->liquidation<--- operation look like. Allah akbar went to heavens

Land of slow.
That's equivalent to calling 911 during your nightfall raid or strike. Who remembers what happened with modern warefare and that couple that got Swatted for it. Money.

Looks like the cops effectively shifted the blame.

Funny how quickly cops can catch somebody when it's their own a$$es are on the line.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/la-man-arrested-apos-swatting-175332211.html

Authorities arrested a 25-year-old man in California for a “swatting” prank emergency call that led to the death of an innocent 28-year-old Kansas man who was shot by police responders on Thursday evening as he stood on his front doorstep.

Tyler Barriss was taken into custody Friday in Los Angeles on suspicion of making up a story about a shooting and hostage situation at a Wichita address halfway across the country. A man by the same name was arrested in 2015 for making a fake bomb threat to an ABC affiliate news station in Los Angeles.

If you currently have too many women chasing you, calling you, harassing you, knocking on your door at 2 o'clock in the morning... then I have the simple solution for you.

Just read my free ebook 22 Rules for Massive Success With Women and do the opposite of what I recommend.

This will quickly drive all women away from you.

And you will be able to relax and to live your life in peace and quiet.

However you feel about cops, a good many of them do in fact have little man syndrome. That’s why they take such a low paying job with that level of danger. They like the power.

We certainly need more of the specifics of this situation.
