im 22 yrs old and m around 58 kgs. i am 5' 10" long. i dont look like a rake but im damn skinny or thin in a better way. well, to be honest, i do a job, so going to a gym 3-4 times a week would be too much for me because i have life absolutely full at the moment. i just do pushups and light stretches at the moment but that too irregularly. could u guys give me a plan to increase my weight a bit? just put urself in my shoes a bit and think if u work like 9-hrs a day from a shift of 12.30 pm to 9.30 pm, how would u go about it?

I would do the Rippetoe program 3x a week in the morning before you work. You don't work till 12:30, you've got all morning to do it and it only takes 1-2 hours.

I used to do landscaping, which is really hard work, sometimes with 12 hour days, and did the Rippetoe program at night after work. Sure, it was tough but it can be done if you're willing to put in the work.

12:30 to 9:30?
I don't call that "busy" in the sense that we do in
the overworked U.S. :cuss:

Kerpal's advice is very good, listen to him. You have so much time in the morning, you have no excuse. 5'10" and 130 lbs?????? Dude, all you have to do is breathe heavily and you'll gain weight!

I lost my driver's license for about a year and I took public transportation back and forth to work and still worked out all that time. my work out days basically went from about 6am - 7:30pm, taking work into account, and my commute. And I'm an old fart...it's not really that difficult if you can devote and commit.

hey, but do i really have to equip myself with those fvcking equipments??
Do you HAVE too? You dont HAVE too, but it will be really hard if you dont have them. Unless you want to go old school, lift Ox, 55 gallon drums, sandbags, water cans on ropes, tires, and all of that, you're out of luck.

This is, if you cant afford to buy stuff for the home. You can get DBs, a bench for like 99 that you can use for flat bench, and spend a little more you can get a whole incline/decline combo.

The problem, is without a gym, you can only get so far. I told a kid at work this. He was like... i'm increasing my reps. BUT HE WAS NOT increasing his WEIGHT. He had no more weight, and adding another few reps is not the same.

You have to decide what your goals are as well. Some goals can be met with no gym at all.

If you are wanting to get serious, this is a LIFESTYLE, and you will FAIL if you dont realize this from the get go.

You cant go... I want to look like the guy on Mens Fitness and then not eat, and not go to the gym, etc etc.

You can get a start with a few dumbells, some elastic bands, and some heavy medicine balls and such.

It doesn't really matter how much size and weight you want to add...training for muscle is training for muscle.

You need to get to a gym and start doing the compound exercises or buy a bench, barbells, plenty of weight, maybe some dumbbells and a squat rack would be nice..but you're best off just going to a gym mate.

If you're not gonna do that and eat enough food..then you're not gonna gain any muscle

You could do a two day and make great progress. Go before work, one hour or less would be all that is needed per session.

Very solid advice. I am going to check it out.

I work on my feet most of the day.

Option 1-

A diet of bread, twinkies, soda, fastfood, gallons of chocolate milk, candy bars, oreos, cereal bars, red bulls, and loads of pasta. Plus don't do any cardio, avoid protein, also eat right before bed until you are so bloated you can't move.

Option 2-

A diet high in protein, mod carbs, and high fats. With tons of delicious meat products and tasty whey shakes. Lift weights and gain some strength and have a better physique. Have a sense of order in your life, have more energy, have a freakin hobby, gain confidence, and make friends at the gym. benefits are endless. Not to mention compliments from women and even meeting a hawt girl at the gym.

btw- with your body, it would take you 5 years of dedication to look as good as rambo

*why don't you eat a lot and just get fat...sounds like that would be more fitting for you.

hand exercise for weight gain:

travel to nearest fast-food outlet. order at least 3 of largest available sandwich (at least 500 calories). use hand to place sandwich in mouth, take bite. repeat for each sandwich until all three are consumed. repeat 3x per day for 10-12 weeks. look in mirror and appreciate all the weight you've gained.

Hah ya know, I'm starting the think the problem isn't that you're "busy", but that you're just lazy. Mate, no, there is no easy way to do this. Do you think we would all be doing heavy squats in gyms if there was an easy way to do this???

9 hr shifts are the NORM. Look at most guys down your local gym. They all have 9-5 jobs or equivalent, and yet they still have muscle. Get your ass to the gym, start training hard and take lots of food to work with you. That's the way to do this.

If you're lazy, it'll never work. (because you'll probably never do it)
