I've written a reply but it wasn't posted cause I had some internet problems.. damn lost it.
Anyway.. yeah.. i start to discove this irony more and more these days.. that you find when you don't look for it especially.
I'll try some knew things as you said and some not so new things :
This is what I could think about at hte moment:
- working out... trying to make it more enjoyable and less of an effort
- starting to go to debate again after some time...
- doing some martial arts moves on my own ( did 1 year of karate and got the first belt last year but then droped out of it)
- Improving & Evolving , of course.. maybe this will be my passion. I thought about this lately and trie dto find something like a guide line to it and what I came up with, for me, is becoming who you wanna become. Being who you wanna be. And by this I mean making the most out of life. I mean improving yourself in order for you to enjoy and like yourself. I wanna love that guy when I look in the mirror .. and I'm moving to that.
- trying to play guitar again and learn new songs.. maybe sing when I'm alone ( just for fun cause I don't have a good voice for that) and learning some new songs.
- writing something creative... a story, a novel.... something. I think I cam come up with an interesting plot..
Don't know why but I thought about a quote from a movey I saw some time ago. It goes like this:
"For what it’s worth, it’s never too late, or in my case too early, to be whoever you want to be. There’s no time limit... start whenever you want... you can change or stay the same. There are no rules to this thing. We can make the best or the worst of it. I hope you make the best of it. I hope you see things that stop you. I hope you feel things that you never felt before. I hope you meet people with a different point of view. I hope you live a life that you’re proud of and if you find that you’re not, I hope you have the strength to start all over again."
-Benjamin Button
THIS IS MY SH!T. Being good at something is so important. It gives you a sense of direction, pride and accomplishment. It shows you that you're a cool person and you project that to people.
Here's the deal with passion: It takes a lot of time. Hours upon hours upon hours. You also cannot decide to take up a hobby with the goal of showing it off, you are doomed to fail. Give yourself three or four options, try all of them out, then pick one or two to take seriously.
Here's what I think about the options you put up. Even if I don't like one, if you really love it, PURSUE IT. There is nothing more valuable than genuine interest.
Exercise can be a good one. People can see that you're into it, and it's fun to lift once you're strong and have strong friends.
Debate would never appeal to me, and it's not a skill you can show people.
Martial arts you would need a teacher, and you need to take it seriously. It's not something you can dabble in based on youtube videos.
Guitar is a great one, but so many people play. In order to stand out at all, you'd need to devote your life to it, so recognize that.
Writing is cool, but take it up as a daily habit. Write a story or poem or part of a novel every single day. It's also harder to see improvement in this, but you will improve.
Here are my passions, if you have the opportunity to get into any of these, please do. And we can always correspond if you want to talk about any of them: Freestyle rap, dance (hip-hop/electronic), pottery (on a wheel, I'm going to art school for it), frisbee, basketball (just started playing for the first time in my life a few months ago. I'm still awful but I play a lot and love it). I plan to start harmonica next week, as soon as it comes in the mail.
That quote is one of the most true things I've ever seen. Literally the only thing necessary to have a passionate, inspired life is hard work.
