How to dress in High School????

I was just wanting some thoughts on what to wear when you are in High School.

Clothes / Shoes ( What clothes do you Djs recommend to use in High school to look cool and good with yourself? eg. brands and styles )

Hairstyle ( Which is the hairstyle that girls and you guys like the most: spiked, long, others ? )

Colognes ( Which are the best based on your experiences ? )

Sunglasses ( Do you think the use of sunglasses gives you a cool and confident image, if so what do you guys think would be good sunglasses, eg. which brands would you buy? )

I really want some cool opinions so please do so.

PS: Oh, I remembered something, is it ok to use earrings or piercings when you are at HS? I personally think they look ok, but never tried using it.

1st off as I can see that your a newbie, do a search cuz theres been plenty of posts on this topic. Why would you ask how you're suppossed to dress in high school? Do you think every DJ on this board dress a certain way? No! We all have our own unique style that works for us. If you want a piercing go ahead and get one, just make sure it's not a huge a** rock in your ear that looks really bad on you. Sunglasses are cool and all but chicks also like to see your eyes and you can't make "eye contact" if their covered up. I got me some fake Armani glasses that look fine but I just wear them when it's sunny and when driving and stuff. Hairsyles? well thats a whole topic in itself. Depends on your race, face shape, and so on.

dress to impress YOURSELF

dress in a way that makes YOU happy.

if you like earrings then wear them, if not then do not

if there is a certan style that you like or feel comfortabe in, ask and it shal be answered, personally i like more of the preppy, sporty, muscular look

Well, I have two kind of attires I wear at school...well, actually 3, but the third one doesn't really count, but I'll describe it either way.

1. Preppy: I'll just wear everything, abercrombie, aeropostale, or american eagle, except for jeans sometimes, and once in a while I'll wear Tommy too.

Usually either a simple graphic tee that doesn't have that many colors, or an unbuttoned shirt with an undershirt, a long sleeved t or a sweat shirt during winter. My favorite kind of top though, is a nice polo shirt (A&F, AE, or Aero too).

Pants (or shorts during summer) I'll either wear cargos (light brown) or jeans.

Shoes, I'll only wear snickers. Usually black or white ones.

I usually wear a watch, a necklace (A+F, AE, and aero have pretty cool ones), and sometimes a bracelet just to add style. I think I pull it off well, and sometimes when I take these things off during class, girls will grab em and put em on, lol.


A nice jacket during winter goes great too. Once again, ae, a&f, and aero.

2. Jock
Pants and shoes the same. But the top I'd wear any t-shirt or sweatshirt from a school sport. For example, I run track, and play football, so I'll wear my school tshirts that say "Pius XI Football"
I like wearing these because people who don't know you, will know you are part of the team and you're an athlete.

I never wear necklaces or watches or bracelets when I try to look more like a jock. Instead I'll just get a couple of rubber bands and wear them around my wrists.

Your school jacket will look great on you if you want the jock image.


3. I said this doesnt really count, and it doesn't.
Athletic: Just a pair of shorts and a tshirt, for football, track (or whatever other sports you play) practice, and for the weight room.



I never wear sunglases. Specially IN A BUILDING, like my school, it's stupid unless you are outside.

Colognes, I like Lauder Pleasures for men. ANd I've got lots of comments from girls, like "I like that smell" "what cologne are you wearing, it smells good"

my thoughts:

i just finished my first year of college, and went through a HUGE style change. in highschool, everyone went for the sporty-thugged-out look -- baggy jeans, basketball/running shoes, tshirts, sweatshirts, overall not very eyecatching

the problem with highschool is that almost NOBODY has found the style that really suits them.

my recommendation is to start to dress a bit classy in highschool, and dont' wait until you get older and into college. if i could go back in time to highschool, i would have ditched running shoes and gotten myself a nice pair of black leather, casual/dressy shoes, worn nice shirts to school (no sweatshirts or tshirts or anything, but more along the lines of button-downs, ribbed, club-type tshirts), worn clubby-type jeans with the fade that conformed to my body (nothing baggy), no cargo pants....(who needs those pockets), get yourself a nice watch. almost dress as if you're going to a club every morning, but tone it down a lot. i'm not saying wear a dress shirt to school everyday...but don't wear anything that has massive logos on it. go for shirts that are more plain, but nice in quality -- shop at stores like banana republic, tristan&america, guess, club monaco, or even gap/oldnavy (they usually have decent stuff for cheap)...btw these stores are in canada, not sure about the U.S. but u get the idea

forget sunglasses. they hide your eyes....and DJing is all about eye contact right?

the key is to stand out. but only buy clothes that suit you and your body. girls will love you for going with your own style, especially one that's MUCH better looking than your typical highschool teenager.

smell great too. don't blast the cologne everyday, but use a deoderant soap in the shower, maybe get some scented oils and rub on a tiny bit on to give yourself a fresh smell. the key with scents is that you only want people to be able to sense your odour when they get really close to you -- almost at hugging proximity.

but that's just me. and i say this because there were only 2 or 3 guys at my highschool who were like this, and they always stood out in a *very* good way. everyone else just went with typical highschool trends.

Dress what makes YOU happy, if you're not happy with yourself then how are you going to get anywhere?

My #1 tip is to NOT WEAR BAGGY CLOTHES. Bagginess is boring, all the guys are wearing baggy Tshirts, baggy jeans, whatever...

Wear some tighter fitting stuff that'll accentuate your bod more.

Numlocks got some pretty good tips.. Buttonups, Ribbed (tight) shirts, nice jeans (faded ones are still VERY in.. i recommend esp these get them slimmer cut to show off your ASS...ets... haha), polo's will let you stand out...

Grab some mens' magazines and get some ideas from the fashion/clothing sections of them...

Addenum: Also, if you're don't got alot of $ but want nice shoes, check out some of the oldschool shoes that all the brands are coming out with. I find that my Adidas Superstars match so much of my clothes, from khakis to jeans to whatever, they match pretty well.

Addenum2: Ah screw it, im just gonna go through the list:

Clothes / Shoes: Already mentioned, like i said, numlocks got som good stuff

Hairstyle: This is VERY subjective... Myself i liked mine on the short side spiked messily. I earlier let it go longer so it reached my eyes, and let it fall down. Its really up to you. Go check out magazines/pics and see what models/celebs have styles that have similarly shaped faces. Then get it cut at a nice salon place, and TELL THEM WHAT TO DO, be specific with what you want.

Colognes: There are oh-so many for an even larger amount of occasions... Go to a dept store and check out the cologne section, the sales ppl there will be happy to help you... And you can even ask for samples (i love these, sometimes i just go and try to score some samples! Just act likeyou're interested, so its not like you're freeloading off samples... Or make up some BS story about your bro's bday and he wants cologne but he's out of town), which are small vials of the cologne. Choose one that you like. I myself LOVE colognes, they smell so good.. im just to cheap to buy them haha... Right now im using KENNETH COLE NEW YORK, that shiznit is AWESOME.

Sunglasses: Fades are 'in' now, they're great for indoor (dances and clubs maybe? I never been to a club before) or outdoor. And you can use eye contact coz you can still see your eyes from the outside. However, they're not for everybody since these are a bit on the feminine side...

Thats me with fade-style sunglasses.. I also have a pair thats more masculine and are vaguely similar to the ones from the matrix, and some basic sporty-looking ones. My fades are when i wanna feel really stylish, the matrixxy ones are just for casual wear, and sport is for... sport haha...
