I’m 30 finishing up a masters in Construcyion Management and have accepted a job as a field superintendent. 75k a year, plus guaranteed 20% bonus and profit sharing and all the schtick/bennies. The only problem is that it’s traveling and I want to do that for a couple years just to experience it. I’ve tslked with my GF about this and she seems to keep talking future plans 3-4 years down the road where I’ve said no kids or marriage for awhile as in 5 years. She’s early/mid 30’s and a girl that’s stuck around through all the rest of the plates that have disappeared and kept going strong and not slowing down.

I talked with my dad and he stated don’t throw something good away, but I just can’t imagine having kids with 40 year old woman. Is it better to have a talk now and just reiterate what I said before or kinda distance myself now. I do have feelings towards her since dating for a year and a half. She hadn’t shown any red flags, but that’s besides the point at the moment.

Any other viewpoints from this? As my emotions may cloud my judgement

Mate you either do the kid soon with this girl or you let her go and get a younger one 5 yrs from now.

The one you have now is already in the yellow sector when it comes of having kids safely and as bible belt said, once she reach a decent age the chances of sickness reach the sky.

No one can tell you to dump someone you personally like because of abstract reasons. But here's what I would keep in mind:

1) You're on the up dude. Finishing your education, 30 years old male, looking to get out there and live life. She's older than you and in her early-mid 30s which means she's on the down. Your target range is girls in their 20s, hers is guys in their late 30s-40s. It's a logistical mismatch.
2) Of course she's sticking with you through the rest of the plates, she needs to because her clock is ticking and she feels a compulsion to have children. This doesn't make her unique.
3) Attachment creates anxiety, which is why you made this thread. She's probably not a magic unicorn. But the attachment is making you feel like that's the case, and it's helped by thinking of the effort it would take to make new connections. This is the trap that makes people complacent and resigned.

She's 40 years old? Still possible and you must love her... cause baby making will be hard... I know a couple who had a kid she was 46 years old (he was around 40) and they adopted 2 kids.... the pregnancy was hard but the baby healthy, the 2 adopted kids (1-3 years old) were actually harder to raise.

The answer to this: Is how old are you?

How old are you in the sense ARE YOU READY (do you know where you going, are you ready for exclusivity, are you ready to put an END TO YOUR SINGLE LIFE)?

Also, is she the ONE for you (I am a firm believer, you make babies with women you consider to be dating FOREVER) ?

You might say: well it can still not work out.... you are right and truth... in this case I hope the separation goes well. But having a kid make everything harder.

The only one can answer is : You, based on if you are mature and emotionally stable enough.... don't jump.... walk in it

Anything past 35 is considered a higher risk pregnancy. The bigger issue is how you want to be with your kids. If you wait till your 40s, you will be late mid to late 50s when they are in their best years.

From my experience, I was happy to have my dad still active and do things with me. I had several friends with fathers in their 50s and they certainly weren't having as much fun with their dads because they were tired, or at much higher risk of injury.

The real issue is determining if your guys future plans are in line.

Dump her. Not trying to be an *******. But if she doesn't wanna have kids at 30, something is up.

In my experience, girls that will be good mothers tend to look forward to it. My GF go nuts every time she sees a baby.

If its crucial to you, I'd move on, stop wasting your time. Aftersll its takes at least 2 years to know someone good enough to actually plan babies with.
