I heard this is the best exersice for legs. How often should I do em? Some of the people here say they only do em once in a while. Would doing these once a week be over training?

I'd do them once a month if at all... they're mostly of use for plateau busting I'd say. To most people they're done as a way of going as all out as possible, just expending maximum effort, I wouldn't say 20 rep squats are the best leg exercise.

Yeah, I'm curious as to that too. If squats aren't the best leg exercise, then I'm very eager to find out what is...

I'd do them once a week. If I had the consistency, I WOULD be doing them once a week. Now I'm on break, and the school weight room might be closed, still trying to find that one out.

Leg extensions, obviously. :nono:

No squats are obviously the best leg exercise. I'm speaking about doing 20 reps in comparison to the traditional sets. I think they're good every once in a while, I'm just not sure about doing them once a week...

Each to their own though.

That I could understand. I thought you meant squats all together.

I don't think you have any evidence either way except some vague emotional "feeling" you get based on nothing.

Cable crossovers are proven to be the BEST chest developer on Earth, in other news.

Nope I don't. But then, if 20 rep squats are the best things possible for your legs, why aren't 20 rep bench press and 20 rep deads prescribed constantly?

There is no best excersize for anything. I do 20 reppers about once a month because that's how they best fit into my program. There are, however, cycles in which you do 20 rep squats 3x a week and still put on serious mass. Of course the program is focused primarily on squatting with just a few assistance excersizes afterwards. Look up "super squats" or "squats and milk" if you're interested in learning more.

The basic principle is you take your 5RM and after 6 weeks you will be able to do 20 reps with it. Let's say your 5RM is 300lbs. You will have 18 sessions, during which you increase weight by 5lbs/session. so, 18 x 5 = 90. 300 - 90 = 210. Your first session you will do 210x20, next session 215x20, etc. You'll be so burned out the other excersizes (just some push pull movements) will be for assistance purposes and to keep the rest of your body in check. I'm planning on doing this cycle sometime next year myself.
