How much money would it take for you to live a happy life? (after tax)

ahhh, this question wasn't asking "how much money do you want?" or "how much money do you wish to have?", it was asking how much it would need to make you happy. The poll results have been bastardized. I'm sure if I put a billion dollars on there as an option, most of you would choose that.

I put 100k, but it is contingent on me having a home that is paid off and an income that doesn't come from a 9-5 job.

I know that some ppl dont believe in paying homes off early, but I like the security factor.

It would be great if it only took money to have a happy life.

Im currently looking for about a £36,000 per annum job so I put $90,000 considering the exchange rate and tax.

I would take more ofc.....but im trying to be abit realistic.

Re:

Income is a function of satisfaction + desires.

Low wants, low income needs.

High wants, high income needs.

Even the super rich, when considering a % of their income spent on frivolous things, don't spend near the limit the middle and lower class do just to attain status or the appearance of wealth and happiness.

In terms of income, I will build it in stages. My personal feeling is, I'd rather have $1,000 passive income, than $10,000 earned income. Passive income comes in no matter what, and the more income blocks you construct the more you can do what you want, or give it away. Not to mention, earned income NEEDS to be turned into CAPITAL and PASSIVE income BECAUSE you won't ALWAYS have $10,000 earned income, obviously because it's "earned."

Once you hit a threshhold of PASSIVE income beyond earned, the EARNED is icing on the cake, and if you're hurt, injured, sick, or want days off, you can take them. The primary driver in school SHOULD be to teach CONVERSION of earned income INTO capital ASSETS and passive income so that people develop at LEAST basic, financial independence. Yet, they're taught to work FOREVER, as the sole source of their household income.

Ok, I'm rambling. I want $200,000 per month, just to "try" the lifestyle that comes with it. The jets, the planes, the gatherings, the lack of concern for anything, the possibility to own a sports team, yada yada. Not sure how I get there yet, but the journey of 1,000 miles start with a single step, so you learn to build mini cash flow sources and grow.

back to Paris, missing the USA
Actually you aksed two different question in your poll.

- With how much would you be happy?
Or
- With how much would you be satisfied?

The first question basically defines the lower bound below which you would feel that "something's not right". The second question defines the upper bound above which you would start asking yourself "what's the point?"

I picked $90,000 as a compromise between these two questions. Again, the answer also depends on where you live. My choice supposes that I continue to live in France where for example the top notch quality education is free. If I live in the US, I would need more, just in case some day I have three children who all need to go to Harvard...

I put down $50k. Sure, everyone wants that $XXXK pay, but more money DOES NOT equal more hapiness. Just give me enough to enjoy my life with minimal stress and I'll be happy. Higher paying jobs tend to carry more responsibilities and headaches that I would not want to deal with.

Channel your excited feelings into positive thoughts and behaviors. You will attract women by being enthusiastic, radiating energy, and becoming someone who is fun to be around.

Wealth is a means to an end. Nobody wants money by itself - what're you going to do with a bunch of paper? Unfortunately, most people forget this...

No, but it sure helps:up:

A lot of this would depend on where you live, but here in Ky the average income for one person is around 40k. So I myself would love to see 60k after taxes. I'd be happy with that.

No offense but that statement in itself shows how controlling money is in itself. As if you can not be free without money and that belief itself is limiting and confining.

Are the sums per year?

Well thinking that the average income here in Romania is about 250 euros a month, that's 250*12=3000 euros a year I would me more than happy with 35.000 :D

If I am gonna leave this country again, and go in the Western countries of the European Union I would want more, something like 50.000.
