This is going to sound like a very vague question and may will sound stupid to some. But how long in General would it take a person who has a slightly skinny-average build (person trying to bulk up, not lose weight) to look like a coverboy for Mens fitness?

I am basing this on working hard and working out for 4-5 days each week. I have been working out for about 5 months, put on about 6-7 lbs of muscle. I look fairly good, but I still want to get about 20% bigger. I see these guys who are ripped in the gym and I wonder if they are just on steroids or have been lifting relgiously for awhile. My best bet would say on average (to get MH fitness body) is about a year? What do you guys think?

More like 2-4 years, depending on your genetics, diet, and training.

I'd say about 2 years, well that's how long it took me anyway, but that's 2yrs of solid dedication.

If you do everything the way you are supposed to, it shouldn't take 2 years. The hardest part is finding what works best for you. I put on 30 lbs in 3 months and had a body fat percentage of 7%. Just reading everything you can about nutrition. I'd say you do everything to a T.....it will take a year max to have a nice body. You can say it's just genetics, but my best friend has been lifting for 6 months and he's competing in October in the middle weight class and he's put on somewhere around 25-30 lbs in 6 months time. The only supplements he and I have taken is Cell-Tech and a weight gain shake.

Like the guys above said: make sure you get this down to a science, and that will essentially save you years. Don't end up like one of those guys who have been "bulking" for 3-4 years, and are ashamed to take their shirts off in public. :D

I want to point out the obvious that isn't always obvious. You will start to show a noticeable difference almost immediately and from there it is a work in progress. Will I ever look like a cover model? Who knows but at least next year I will be in much better shape.
