I decided to take a week off from lifting started last Wednesday and will start up again tomorrow but got to thinking if someone like me whose been lifting now for over 18 months having a good muscularity not bodybuilding but powerliting for strength and size how long would it take to loose the strength and size I have in say in weeks or months if anyone knows if I stopped lifting?

Thanks

I hope that you have at least been deloading in that 18 month period.

A week off from strength training, just doing some conditioning work etc is recommended once in a while.

Different people respond differently. Some people come back after the week a good deal stronger, some a good bit weaker. It is a good idea to use weights in the 80% range the first week back and then start going heavy in weeks 2 or 3. This is all because of the CNS.

Having said all this, you will not lose or gain any noticeable amount of muscle in the space of a few weeks. After a 3-4 weeks you are maybe looking at some damage, which would be minimal. Unless of course you weren't eating right and lost 10lbs, that would be bad...

What you have done however is encouraged once in a while. You should be feeling good and ready to hit the weights again.

Thanks Quagmire911,

Definitely have done deloads during this time and it's been awhile though since I took this long off and look forward to how I will react in strength..

I know that I have gone 4 days before and came back and blew pass weights that seemed like a ton before talk about a lift in ego no pun intended:D

So far my bodyweight has stayed the same 230 been taking in the same amount of protein around 300g and have done cardio by push mowing my acre yard... I look forward tomorrow to get back to the weights:up:
