Yes, people, it is possible. Just when you thought to yourself "am i doomed to having bacne (back acne) for the rest of my life?", you are wrong ;)

I once was cursed with acne for about 3 years, starting when i was around 14 years old. It was so bad once that my upper back, upper chest, back of my neck, and chin were covered with the life-destroying sh!te. Now, it is all gone. Perfectly smooth skin with no trace of a pimple.
And....here is how i did it. Follow these simple guidelines and i guarantee they will fvck off and leave you alone:

**NEVER touch them. All that bvllsh!t about people telling you to scrub them with soap, ALL WRONG. Rubbing your acne with soap will only irritate them more and cause more of the sebum to be clogged up in the pores. Worse, scrubbing pimples with soap will also rub grease and dirt into your pores, making the situation worse. The key here is to NEVER EVER touch the acne, if you can help it (besides when applying benzoyl peroxide, discussed below). No scratching, rubbing, or anything. NO, dont even touch the ones on your back to see if they're there!! (use a mirror ;) )

**USE benzac cream (benzoyl peroxide), preferably at a higher concentration (I used the highest, at 10%) Fvck the instructions. Apply a thin layer of the cream every 2 nights, and then SKIP one night. So it would be: Apply thin layer 2 nights, skip one night, apply 2 nights, skip one night....and so on. This will ensure that your skin will not dry out too much and it gives it a break from having chemicals continuously present on your skin surface, not to mention cutting down on the rubbing involved when the cream is applied.

**GET a REASONABLE amount of sunlight I'm not talking about lying under the sun all day until you get skin cancer, but just a mild bit of sunlight, which will help to dry your skin and free the pores of moisture.

**GIVE your skin a bit of FRESH AIR!!!! Instead of closetting your pimples underneath your t-shirt or jumper (wind-cheater? cardigan? i dunno what Americans call them :D), give them some air, take off your shirt and let the breeze in! Haven't you ever wondered why the ancient natives, the Aborigines, Indians,.....etc. never seem to have pimples? It's cause their skin is open to the elements! Let the elements get at your skin! Your skin wants freedom.

I hope i help some poor soul be free of the savagery of pimples, as they have marred my life enough!

Hey good stuff.. But honestly what I find works for me is washing with something that helps get rid of the oil on my skin then use the 10% BP.. I used to have a couple zits, but now I'm clear as you can see in my profile picture.. I'm not sure if I agree with the shirt off thing.. I mean, your face is exposed to the elements, yet it still gets zits..

Drink plenty of water and take a multi-vitamin daily.. I found that drinking plenty of water helps me keep my skin clear!

You are treating all the symptons from the outside. Fix your diet and the inner cause will be gone and you wont need any cream or anything. Acne comes from UNDER your skin!

Just a word of advice: Dont need to use 10%, overdrys and it's worse for your skin. Use small concentration, no more than 5%, and use it every day.

I've been using the Clearasil Vanishing Cream, but it hasn't been very consistent. I'm really looking for something to clear up my nose more than anything. I used to have a huge swelling on my nose, which went away but the skin from the swelling is still a darker color. What do you suggest I get??

lol you probably lost your acne problem because you grew out of it like most 18 year olds.

Get it through your heads people. YOU CANNOT CURE ACNE with today's science. You can treat it, cover it up, and suppress it. The only thing to make it stop completely is to wait until when your genetics say it will stop completely.

This ENTIRELY depends on the person. I can tolerate 10% just fine, while some people have trouble tolerating even 5%.

wanderer,

man i know how that is.. i spent 14-18 looking like a freakin pepperoni pizza and trying everything from regular soap to proactive.. never went to the oral meds or anything but i have a friend who had it TERRIBLE, like i thought i had it bad but i was wrong, he had to use accutane, but it worked well for him.. but the main thing is that acne kills ur confidence, u always feel everyone is looking at them..

diet didnt do much for me, i always eat clean and avg about 1-1.5 gallons of water a day but that didnt help. age is what helped..one day it seemed like they were gone.. i still get one occasionally, but its like one zit.. it sucks when ur dealing with like 5 new ones a day and still working to pop and get rid of the others..

im glad ur face is clean now man.. to all those with bad skin, u just gotta tough it out, or go on meds.. it sucks, it really does, but ive been there, and unless ur part of a small % it wont last forever..

shadowfox, yeah it took about 3 weeks or so to really start working, but the key is to KEEP on applying it, and dont slack off! Most ppl use it for a couple of weeks and then go "fvck it".you will never get anywhere with that attitude.

zerix, i use 10% cause my skin is USED TO IT. Most ppl start at 2% bp for a few weeks, then 5%, then finally 10%. My skin has gotten so used to it that i can apply the 10% every day if i want to, and it will never dry out my skin. But if, for example, my brother does the same thing, his skin will suffer majorly and get really red, sore, and dry, and start peeling. the key is to get your skin used to it.

shiftkey, nah, whenever i stop applying the cream the buggers still try to come back, however slowly. Once you get to the stage when no more of them pop up, you still need to apply a very thin layer to make sure the fvckers dont come back. Depressing, i know, but its well worth it:rock:

Someone recommended Nature's Cure from this website and it works very well with me but it's expensive $10 for a tube compare that to 10% bz creams which are half that price, it's 5% bz if you were wondering, an increase in benzoid necessarily does not mean it's better, infact prescription acne creams tend to have around 3-5% because they're other chemicals in the cream to assist in the proper topical skin delivery.

I wouldn't consider that a cure, your body is still trying to tell you you're doing something wrong, you're just trying to hide it.

I think this would be better in aiding permanent removal/treatment of acne. Can't remember where I found it but it has worked for me. Don't get discouraged if you can't find the anti-bacterial foaming wash, because I couldn't find it anywhere (I live in Australia) just make sure you find some other cleanser.

10% Benzoyl Peroxide
2% Salicylic Acid (Clearasil overnight acne defense gel)
Stridex Anti-Bacterial Foaming Wash

-The Foaming Wash should be used at least twice daily. Use it when you wake up and before you go to sleep. DO NOT USE IT IN THE SHOWER, it will make you feel like your face is on fire. Also, it says to use 1 to 1.5 pumps, use 2, it works better that way.

-Now, for the overnight gel, wash your face with a good bar soap (or your favorite foaming wash), and then use the gel before you go to bed. Now, when you wake up, wash your face, and then apply the gel again if you do not wash your face the next layer of gel won't do anything. For the first few days, DO NOT USE the overnight gel more than once a day (that doesn't include the night). If you don't follow the directions, your skin will start to peel, especially around the mouth.

-When your finally pimple free, or only have one or two pimples, you should start to use the Benzoyl Peroxide that will make sure that your skin stay nice and dry and you won't get pimples. But when you're done, make sure to keep using the Foaming wash.

And to ShiftKey, anyone who has used (Ro)accutane can debate that the changes have been permanent. No matter what age you are genetically predisposed to stop getting acne.

No, accutane doesn't cure it either. All accutane does is shrink the sabaceous glands while you're on it. It doesn't change your DNA. Once you stop taking it, if acne doesn't come back it wouldn't have continued at that age anyway.

Case in point, I took accutane for a year when I was 16/17 and I still break out 7 years later. I inhereted it from my dad who had acne until his late 20s - early 30s. Treatments help supress it, but nothing will cure it. Right now I'm even trying a cutting edge laser treatment, but so far it hasn't even worked (my treatment phase is in its infancy, or so they say).

I went to see one of those oriental medicine guys for some herbal problem solving. Seeing as the asian medicine has been around far longer than western medicine I figured it was worth a shot...

He promised me that after a two month treatment period my facial acne would be gone in the two months after it dissappearing gradually.

So i got two months of daily herbal tea, supposedly to clean out my intestines and stomach. And a facial mask two times a week.

My face used to be pretty ****ed up but now it's about 4 months after i finished the regimen and now i still have some scars and the occasional one or two zits. It hasn't dissappeared entirely but it has helped me a lot without any of the side effects i heard of with accutane and pro-activ..

It's very true that acne comes from under your skin. If you have moderate to severe acne, any diet or anything you apply to your skin will have limited effect. If you have a problem with acne, that affects your everyday life in a negative way, go see a dermatologist immediately! There are ways to fix your acne, and it is SO worth it!! Acne is probably the number one confidencekiller, which I'm sure anyone who has had or have real acne will agree with. Acne can lead to depression, isolation and zero confidence.

When my acne was at it's worst a few years back, I didn't even wanted to go outside. I skipped school, made up exuses for not going to parties and basically just isolated myself when the acne was aggressive. I couldn't look people in the eyes, because I felt they were all starring at my red, swollen acne. Every single social interaction became stressfull.

When i tell people who know me really well about that period of my life, they don't even believe me! I'm a very social and outgoing person with massive confidence! When my face is clear!! Acne will hurt it so bad it's not even funny.

At some point I couldn't take it anymore so I went to see a dermatologist. I started on oxytetral, which is an antibiotic that helps killing or slowing down the growth of baceria in the skin follicles.. I saw real improvement, but not enough to kill the real big, red ones. After a few months on that I started using Accutane. Accutane reduces the production of sebum by the sebaceous glands. It was terrible in the beginning, because of the initial breakout. Everything became worse. After that I started to clear up slowly. Only side effects were dry skin and lips..a small price to pay. Also it was pretty expensive, but well worth it!

My face totally cleared up and my confidence came back in full force!! A huge burden lifted off my shoulders!

My acne has started to return now though, 2 years after ended treatment, but not nearly as bad as it was back then. I think I might have a second go at Accutane, to clear things up for good..I love having good skin. It is what boosts my confidence the most!

My point is, if your acne bothers you so much that it becomes a problem and a negative impact on your life, do something about it. Don't wait it out or use those sucky creams. Go see a dermatologist. Use differin, skinoren or dalacin if you have mild to moderate acne. Use antibiotics or accutane for moderate to severe acne. You can also use the creams on the skin while using peroral treatments, but check it with your doctor first.

Fix it!!

My experience with Acne has been a never ending circle. I don't buy genetics in my particular case because no one else in my family ever got it as bad as I did and for as long. Stress causes it, and I stress a lot. Bad diet can cause it, and my diet is hit and miss depending on my stress levels. It's getting better here lately though with my new job and weight loss and such.

It has never been scientifically proven that either stress nor diet affects your acne... Acne can cause stress though.
