How do YOU stay motivated?

I've been working out for over 10 years, but I can't seem to stick with it for more than a few months at a time. There have been several instances where I was able to work out long enough to set personal records, but it was like I subconsciously gave up after that. Maybe it's because I've never really experienced any kind of tangible results from being in great shape; I would get the occasional compliment, but nothing that made me want to keep punishing myself 3 times a week.

How do you guys retain the desire to push iron?

You're probably demotivated because you view it as "Punishing yourself". Words and metaphors have strong impact. Change it to something more empowering, like "Challenging myself".

Like you, I've been lifting over decade. However, I've never taken more than a couple of weeks off.

How do I stay motivated? Simple... accountability. For the past 7-8 years, I've been involved w/ something where my physical ability/appearance, etc. was making me money, or I was competing in something.

My build definitely regressed when I finished stripping and didn't have anything specific to train for. This is the biggest reason I decided to compete in bodybuilding.

Oh ya, Jitter... some new halfass pics for you on my comp. log. I remember you asked for some a while back.

I think that my discontent with my career path may be opposing my desire to become physically elite. It's hard for me to focus on weightlifting when I'm so unhappy with other aspects of my life.
