I'm going to be working full time starting next year and I want to keep eating healthy. I figure snacks won't be a problem as I'll just have a bunch of healthy snacks at my desk, but I am gonna need a lunch! I don't want to be so boring and stay at the office all day and never accompany people to lunch. What do you guys do? It seems most restaurants are strictly unhealthy unless I am going to a nice steak restaurant for lunch every day which I don't want to spend all that money on.

Just prepare your food in advance and eat it on your lunch break. Keep a cooler in your car or whatever. Depending on your workplace, you may have access to a fridge, microwave, whatever..

Go for lunch with the crew, but order a drink only. They'll wonder how you never seem to eat with them, but have a body 10x better than theirs.

Such things are the price of taking care of yourself.

The cooler thing with foods prepared, shakes, bars, almonds, peanut butter, etc etc.

It is hard, no doubt about it. When I had classes all day long at school (college) I would take a cooler with me, and eat when I needed to. Sure it seems odd, but if its what you do its what you do.

Another thing that REALLY helps me is that lets say I am going to be drinking 32oz of water the next 2hrs or so. I'll add 1C of Maltodextrin in it, add some flavoring and drink it just as I would water. This gives me an additional 380cal. Now you dont want to drink it all at once cause it'll spike your insulin like crazy, but it helps TONS for me. You can get it in bulk too, and mix as needed. I'll put the powder in a funnel into a Gatorade bottle and drink it. A VERY cheap way to get extra calories. And since your drinking water anyway it works out great.

There are times it becomes tough, and you have to find what works for you. Eventually you will.

What sort of job? I've worked all my life in office jobs and the most we go out to lunch as a team on a regular basis is once a week. (currently, it's about once per month) I just bring in powder and leave a shaker at work and make it up as needed. Then try to make healthy choices about lunch/snacks. eg. salad with chicken breast for lunch and low fat yogurt with fruit for an afternoon snack.

I'm lucky,I work in a grocery store with a HUGE produce section! When I'm tired of fruit I head to the natural foods and get some unsalted peanuts! For lunch I eat a can of light tuna.

Exactly. The real reason to avoid eating out is the expense, but don't skip opportunities to socialize and network just cuz you're bulking. Most restaurants are loaded with reasonable options but we all seem to gravitate right to the 3 or 4 things that should be off limits most of the time...
