Short intense interval cardio is more effective, especially when you are trying to gain muscle. Do a search for 'hiit' (high intensity interval training), and read diesel's guide to cutting (stickied at the top).

Note that HIIT will however, hurt your recovery times.

^^ At first anyway, until your body adapts.

When it's adapted you're recovery time from weight lifting SHOULD actually be reduced.... Just don't overtrain.

Even once your body's adapted, sprints and the like will damage your squat weight.

They have more fat because looks are not important (cutting reduces your strength) and being ripped is a sure way to ask for injuries in those sports (powerlifting, strongman, stone lifting, etc...). Bodybuilders are ripped because their strength is not important.

They train differently too, powerlifers train with more sets and fewer reps. Strongmen train alot of arms, back and legs as well as some cardio. Bodybuilders have fewer sets and more reps. Their training alone does not make them gain fat, however, volume training with more reps will make the muscles grow more than powerlifting style lifting.

Single most important thing about getting rid of that fat so the muscles show through is diet. If you don't eat right you're never gonna achieve that ripped look.

www.bodybuilding.com is a good resource for everything related to getting a ripped body.

i don't think it needs a powerlifter to curl 50lbs... i think you meant kilograms. 50lbs are 20 kgs and i know lots of people that don't even workout and could lift that

even 50 kg curl is pathetic. Magnus curls 180 kg if I remeber right.

50 lb dumbbell curls in strict form isnt bad but for a bodybuilder not a power lifter.
