How do I say no to a city hawkins dance?

I'm just curious how to say no if a girl asks you to one. The thing is last year i was waiting for a girl to ask me(i knew she would) and she eventually did but I didnt handle a few requests before that very well. Well theres another girl this year, who will 95% likely ask me ewho i think ill go with. BUt what if i get asked by another girl first, how do i handle it? I mean i dont wanna be an a$$ and be like ur ugly or too quiet not enough fun etc. but its not like i can say im going somewhere else or have plans cause ill probably be going.
