I'm 26 and for the first time will be starting an office based job.

Previously working as a Personal Trainer and Carpenter, that type of almost flirty banter worked well with clients, but I don't quite know how to 'be' within an office space.

What is acceptable? What is expected of me? Call me egotistical but I also want to climb the social hierarchy and be liked. Life is one big game to me.

Hopefully I can hear from some older guys who have been there and done that, also some men my own age who are a bit ahead of me.

Have a great weekend boys!

In regards to women your behavior has to be innocent enough that HR won't can your as$ if they find out. That means you'll be all business with the occasional witty joke about grabbing lunch with the girl, and even that should only be done with women showing obvious interest that are themselves taking risks to flirt with you.

Typically banging coworkers doesn't end well, so unless you don't care about losing your job you should spit game elsewhere.

Should be moved to W&S

What kind of office job?

The first 6 months you'll be under a microscope, it's where people judge your work ethic and team playing. I moved up the ladder super fast in my previous job. I kept my head down and learned from the engineers even though I was in a sales role. First one in, last one out during my first 6 months. Kept pushing til every last minute of the quarter. Super friendly with the engineers to understand more about the products and industry. Listened to customers on what problems they were having and took the initiative to have one of our engineers reach out.

I got promoted to one of the highest position they had outside of management within 12 months of being there. Within 2 years I was rarely seen at my desk, I just did my own thing and no one cared. All my travel expenses were well over cap, but they didn't care either. When I left, I had an overwhelming number of colleagues and executives personally reach out to me - had one upper management say I was the face of the company (1K+). Couldn't have been in that position if I didn't grind for the first 6 months.

My problem is that most of my auto responses are witty jokes, its just been engrained into me.

That'll be something I'll definitely have to practise, thank you for the input pal!

Starting in customer service, but I plan to grind my way to the top too, I'm not here to half ass anything.

Im glad to hear of your success also, this has been great to read.

Just a few questions:

- How was your social life effected during this process?

- Now you're on the other side, what would you have done differently? Any traps to avoid, etc...

- How has having a higher status in work effected your social life / game?

Depends on how much you value that job and the future prospects of big money in that company. If it’s a true life changing oppty, better mind your manners and make the company money. That should be your first priority anyway…..leave your sex life at home. Make money, not love, at work.
At this point, even just this entry level job I feel will be life changing.

Money > B*tches, gotcha ;)

Never say anything in what you think is a private conversation that you would not write on a public bulletin board and sign your name underneath. You will be baited at some point to get you to say something that could be used against you.

One good tip for working in an office is to always mention to any hot girls that notice you looking in their direction that you weren't looking that their tits.

I was much more social believe or not. I took the initiate to set up a toy drive with the new company since I was part of a club running the same drive. I think it did help a. It on my new gig since they saw a guy that was giving back, in a sales role. It was very coincidental, but I’m sure it can be replicated if you give it a shot!

I don’t think I could have done anything differently….maybe *not called out the guy that I eventually took over his job that he Could try harder over a Christmas party in a buzzed state. He was there for 4 years before my rookie ass. Word travels quick, and that dude didn’t talk to me even though I was in a team with him. I got the team nice gifts for Christmas, including a jersey of his favorite team and a razor since his beard was outta whack that he told me about. He actually mentored me for the next couple months, we hung out about 30 mins after work most days to shoot the **** alone before he got canned and I took over for him. It was surreal when I got the gig because he took me to baseball games, introduced me to his family and friends….but he was never meant to be in a higher caliber saws role. Awesome dude nonetheless. He taught me a lot at the time

Absolutely being higher status has helped me in confidence dating, but I became so much more picky. Double edge sword, if I was looking to get my d!ck wet always then it would hinder me. Ive always been a relationship guy,so it works for me so I can next chicks that Doesn’t fit into what I’m looking for. You can always pay a few hundred to get some thot to bust a nut :)
