How do I break past these barriers or simply a tease?

I'm in this town temporary for work. I've recently moved in with a housemate I want to sleep with. How I see it, I'm only here for a few months and she's a solid 7 in a country town so why not.

The thing is I keep encountering barriers. Anytime we're in a situation of tension, she flees. I.e. Begin playfighting, if I lean over her or our faces come close or we're sitting together on the couch. Yet she continues to subtly bring up this ex, that ex etc; more than normal as if to increase her social value.

Yet I spend immensely more time with her than your traditional housemate. We actually cook for each other, buy gifts and go to events together. The thing is at these gatherings (I'm assuming cos it's safer) and after a drink or so, IOIs go through the roof and she brags to others about us living together like we're a couple. As a photographer, we did a photoshoot and that day was probably the closest she let her guard down.

So any tips here guys? Or am I just being used as social value?

Move away from her. Go cold and move on. Find other women to date and let her know. You will know quickly what her intentions were. Here's the problem, she may get super jealous and make the living situation uncomfortable. What else are you going to do? Chase her and validate her ego for the next X months while getting blue balls?

you're literally in the most optimal possible position to get into her pants, if you can't do it then you won't be getting in there anytime soon, start bringing other girls home
