At the moment I am starting to take up new hobbies which I believe will not only make me more well rounded and interesting also have the by product of attracting quality women. Surfing which I starting to get into seems to get plenty of attention, while that is not why I am doing it, it seems to be a by product. I would like to learn latin dancing, martial arts and take up a musical instrument. There are a few things I want to try as I think it is best to be constantly stimulated even while you are single, so I have an interesting life regardless of whether I have a gf or not.

I do martial arts, have always played the guitar, and recently started playing the double bass of all things - jazz and rhythm and blues, now THAT really gets some attention (a very strange but very intriguing choice of instrument). The girsl have always loved it, but again, not the reason I did these things, same as you.
It's a good idea from any angle you slice it. It's win-win.

I'm a graphic artist/animator by trade. Its a job I sort of fell into with no formal training, just lots of on the job experience. So now my hobbies include filling in the gaps in my knowledge. I've taken up photography mainly as a way to capture some images I always wanted and to make my own prints and I've started to paint as well. I'm into cityscapes and landscapes but I get a lot of girls asking me to take their picture. It's always funny to see their expressions when I refuse. I'm not doing the whole "I take pics to get laid" bit that I know a lot of photogs do. I was out shooting the city the other day and a couple asked me to take some pics of them with their camera. They loved the pics and asked me to do their wedding, but I'm not that sort of photog and handed them off to my friend who does weddings for a living.

My other hobby is business. Me and my kid are setting up her first business this summer selling her tee shirts, bracelets and drawings. Half of the money she gets to keep, the other have goes in her college savings. I want her to have an entrepreneurial spirit and know that money can be made without having to be stuck in a job.

Don't take up hobbies because you think they might get you laid, take them up because you think they are interesting and fun. That's it.

First, if your quest was to be interesting you may have a problem here. Every guy on this type of forum takes up these three things in order to be interesting to women.

It's far more interesting TO YOU to take up things you want to do. If it is these three activities then good. Here's a little test. Are there things that you would be willing to stay up late practising? Willing to do while sick? Things that you ALREADY read about on internet forums? If so they are probably your best bet! The inklings of a passion might already be there, expand from there.

As an aside, if you are doing one or two things to impress women that's really not a big deal. It's actually pretty practical. If you are a white guy knowing how to dance will give you alot of juice over other white guys because most of us can't. At parties we drink. How sexy is that? But don't confuse socially practical things to do with actual passions or hobbies.

Second, if you have a job, school, family, and social obligations three new hobbies are at least two too many. Again it goes with the passion thing. Find something you really care about and spend your time being the best at it that you can be.

What happens, IN HER MIND, is that she comes to see you as WORTHLESS simply because she hasn't had to INVEST anything in you in order to get you or to keep you.

You were an interesting diversion while she had nothing else to do. But now that someone a little more valuable has come along, someone who expects her to treat him very well, she'll have no problem at all dropping you or demoting you to lowly "friendship" status.

I have a passion for bowling and do leagues about 3 nights a week, it is great for me (being a more introverted type) to get into a crowd of people and be the center of attention at times, get a hobby that you can get good at and impress people(meaning girls), after tearing that **** up on the lanes I can go anywhere afterwards and sarge like crazy, confidence can be built from anything

Not all hobbies are created equal when it comes to attracting women though. Compare surfing or dancing with something like model railroading or collecting baseball cards. Obviously you would be far more likely to attract women with the former two examples than the latter.

While that is true, I don't think meeting women is a good enough motivation for staying with a hobbie.

That's true, but it's tough to really pursue hobbies unless you have a genuine interest and at least a little aptitude for them. And if you're not genuinely interested, you're defeating the purpose of a hobby.

You're right of course. But a lot of people here are advised to get a hobby as part of making themselves a more interesting person. With the idea that they will be more interesting to the opposite sex. Such a guy might choose a hobby with that in mind - hopefully one that will genuinely appeal to him also.

Tell her a little about yourself, but not too much. Maintain some mystery. Give her something to think about and wonder about when she's at home.
