"God did it!" is such an anti-intellectual cop out.

Oh yeah, ask a physicist what was going on before the big bang or what lies outside the boundary of our universe. He'll get indignant and explain that the question is impossible to answer - now there's an intellectual cop-out.

String theory puts forward the idea of many dimensions; most of them invisible to us.

Paul Davies, 'The Last Three Minutes' is a fun book in armchair cosmology. Also, Einstein's book about relativity is surprisingly readable.

Science does not know the answer to "everything" and never will.

If your happy with the "God did it" answers you might as well drop out of school because you already have your answer to everything. No intelligence or education is needed. Just like the stone age.

You needed to know how to hunt in stone age, and how to make a sharp rock, and god made the fire!

I didn't say that the physicist would respond, "I don't know." I said that he would get annoyed and say that it is stupid to ask because it can never be known. That doesn't seem very open-minded to me.

This imaginary physicist does indeed sound a rude fellow!

I still don't believe in universe always existed. It assumes there is such thing as infinity. Surely there is infinity in numbers. But in physical worlds, there is such thing as smallest particle. It's not infinite.

Based on this premise I tend to believe more in begging and end.
Infinity is easy to grasp, imo.

Far easier to grasp then:

What was before the begining, or what was the begining of the begining and what was the creation of that, add infinitum.

or what was the begining of the end, or the end of the end and is there anything after that, if there is nothing at the end, then how can the big bang exist, meaning the end is another part of the cycle, since to believe in the big bang would assume something was created out of nothing which concludes there is no end.

As for spiritulism and 'god', who knows what the design is, all i know we wont find out whilst we run around in circles thinking some 'man in our own image' parted the heavens and the earth, or think there cant be some grand creator even if that grand creator live's in all of the universes creation's.

Who know's each from of life could be an essence of this one god, to return whenst it came to experiance another life, all i know is the univers imo is eternal, even in its smallest particule if that particule contains the map for the existance today, then to me that particule was eternal and was in constant flux, but i would much prefer to think if there was a begining of this universe, it was simply a product of an older universe going down a different path.

call it god if you will, but this tells me, current understanding only proves or shows some tools to how the universe could have been created it leads not to its creation and simply to its birth, that is all it can be, every other scenario leads to another question, add infinitum, there is no final point has imo there never was one, there looking at the birth, much like you did with the 'sun', the sun was the coming together of things that already existed, it was born, you can call it creation if you like, but it was created by the universe, hence it always was, and will on its end return ready to be recycled into the universe again.

He taught an honors class I took about the Theory of Relativity. sob gave me a D because he said he thought I could do better. So, yeah, he was pretty rude. He got really mad at me asking those kind of questions.
