So my girlfriend is still in HS and Ive already graduated. Tonight she asked me if it would bother me if she went to prom because she got asked. I sat silent for a minute and my thoughts immediately went out to "Make the correct decision" and of course i was thinking of this site.

So after a minute i decided i would get a bit more info. Got his name, blah blah to soften her up then i asked if he liked her. She said Yes and she went on to say last year she was in the same situation and she didnt go cause her last b/f said no. I took this as an oppurtunity to say, "I dont want you to go." she made it clear to me it was okay to say no, so i did. Maybe she wanted to test me, maybe she wanted to go. But i explained myself and everyhting was okay. What would you guys do in this situation

I would say yes. I see myself as a higher-value male than any guy my girlfriend would talk to. Maybe I'm naive, but I don't feel the need to worry about anything she does because my value is so entrenched in who I am.

Let her go man, you dont really own her anyway and if she ends up having it off with this guy, she wasnt worth it in the first place.

Let a your bird go and if it comes back to you it was truly your to begin with........

hmmmm the high school I went to would allow the student to bring anyone to prom with them... That's beyond the point though...

Since you've already told her no... I would be the nice guy and "let her fly free" - just for one night :) hehe - Plus you are playing a little reverse psychology when you act like you don't care who she goes with.

Senior prom eh? She should really get to go... Prom is over rated but bro... That's a memory she should have...

The bird cliche is brilliant. My friend was in the same situation and he loved it,gave him a night out with the guys. Just tell her it is her choice and that she should go with who she wants.

What are you guys talking about man?

She's your girlfriend, she's not in high school, some guy who's into her obviously wants to get her to go to prom with him. You have every right to say she shouldn't go, she won't respect you less for that.

God knows the **** that goes down after prom, don't you remember yours?

If she's your real girlfriend you made the right choice.

You guys will make the argument of let the bird fly and..... bullshlt man,

alcohol + prom + horny guys = my girlfriend does not belong

Did any of you guys go to prom?

Glad those days are over.

Whats your girl like when shes drunk. Crazy?

If so let her go but not drink. I think your fine to let her go.

Actually, I think you should one night tell her you want to take her to the prom. What's wrong with that?

I agree. She was testing you. The answer she wanted was "No, but I'll take you to the prom." If you don't take her, she will resent you for it for a long time, probably for as long as you are together. Stupid crap like this is important to women. Having a prom date is social proof for her. It sucks for you, but it is only one night, and you will reap the rewards long into the future.

The cliche is "If you love something let it go. If it comes back to you it's yours, if it doesn't it never was"

I wouldn't get too ubset if my HS g/f went to prom. It's what happens AFTER the prom that I'd worry about. And even then it wouldn't be too intesive on my mind. Then again few people have such a good grip on their emotions like I do.

at my prom kids that have graduated already have come, you could just go with her if they'd let you, and they should let you.

Letting a total stranger take your girl out does not make you secure in the relationship, it makes you a sucker. Would you let a total stranger drive your car? Or watch your house while you go on a trip? If your gf is so desperate to go to this prom, she can ask YOU, HER BF, to go with her. End of discussion. If she wants other guys to take her out, tell her she should tell you right away so you know not to waste your time.

Personally however, I think it's a mistake that you're in a relationship with a high schooler. The maturity gap is huge, and situations like this one are examples of it. It would be one thing if you were just sleeping with her, but being involved in a realtionship with a high schooler is a waste of time. It's not gonna last, and once she graduates and starts college, she's gonna enter the "I need different d*ck" mode and go off experimenting, because that's what college is about and that's what you should be doing bro.

lol that godsgifttowomen guy is fuvking right .

Never know might be some PUA/DJ that is going to the prom with her, that run some game and get that lay!!!!!

You did the right thing making her not go, but I do think you should go with her as this would be an important event for her cause she only gets this once, next thing you know she sneaks to the prom:crackup:

At first I was like maybe you could let her go, but when i think about it its freaking prom people going to try and go for the lay. Kino going to be flying around she going to be so excited, then one thing lead to the other and now she is upside down trying a new position in the kids grandfather's station wagon.

So yes you made a perfect choice saying NO

Read this twice, couldn't have said it better myself.
