I'm doing a survey and I'd really appreciate some honest feedback and opinions here from you guys.

The business I run makes peanut butter and nut mixes designed by a personal trainer and nutritionist to be as healthy as possible. We use organic ingredients, first off. Our peanut butter has DOUBLE the protein per serving than conventional peanut butter (14g vs 6-7g), and four of our nut mixes have 50% more protein per serving than conventional nuts. There are no trans fats, no added processed sugars, low sodium, and the calorie and fat content is as low or lower than just about all other PBs. It all tastes great, too (otherwise I would not be running this business).

Since it's a premium product, it costs more than other peanut butters. For a simple comparison, you'd be buying a standard 16oz container of PB (if you buy PB). I want to know if you guys think this is something you're interested in, and why you answered the way you did on the poll.

Thanks!

It sounds an awesome product in theory, but my question is this - what is the source of the additional protein?

Most people use peanut butter as a fat source/supplement rather than a protein source - the reason being that peanuts, being a legume, have a poor amino acid profile and must be combined with other (incomplete) proteins to make up the required amino acid numbers; generally a grain or seeds. Or, in the case of Powerbutter, they add egg white protein to make their mix higher protein.

Now if you were offering a peanut butter with double the amount of complete protein plus the healthy fats (lowfat peanut butter is a bit of an oxymoron to me!) then yes, I'd definitely buy some, as this would make it a complete protein+fat meal. Otherwise I'd buy cheaper, regular no-sugar peanut butter and just add it to a protein drink.

That's my honest opinion. :)

The additional protein is a whey protein isolate which does three things to the PB. It increases the amount of protein per serving, adds a sweetener to the peanut butter (instead of adding sugar), and emulsifies the oils so you do not have to stir it up.

The fat content is about the same as all natural and organic PBs. It's less than your Skippy/Jif PBs.
