I'd say thanks but never return the compliment. It's not sincere because you automatically return it. Also I've mostly gotten weird looks at a returned compliment. Sounds like you're trying to suck up.

I'd say "Thanks!", and crack a smile, and force myself to look the other in the eye. That way you suppress the reflex to look down and be all humble and awkward.

This usually my response to anything like you're hot, i like you, you're awesome, you're funny, you're cute etc... Say it with some confience maybe a wink in there


Another line i use once in awhile usually with a few beverages in me is if a girl says your hot or cute you respond with " I know always imitated never duplicated "
