so apparently butter and fullfat meat/cheese/cream aren't healthy but soybeans, milk and various grains are.. hmmmm. can't say I agree with that.

Look at what's in butter, cheap cheese(or any cheese) & cream and please tell me how any one of those could be seen as healthy? If you don't beleive me on the cheese go take a piece at home, put it outside or anywhere in your house for several days and tell me what happens to it. Now compares that to a real food, i.e. a fruit you just cut open or such(breaks down).

It's real simple, soybeans, milk & most grains are natural w/o crap added, which is why they are healthy.

Look at that Asain man who is now the longest living male today. What did he say his key to his long life was?

-Drank Milk

-Didn't Touch Achohol

Okay blink, how about YOU tell me what's in all these things because I can't see anything wrong in them.

Butter is butter, sometimes with added salt
Cheese is cheese - the 'healthy' lowfat cheese usually has additives if you check the packets
Cream is cream

Cheese or cream left outside the fridge go bad.. what's your point?

As for the asian guy who lived so long, see my earlier post about portion control.. and the fact he drank milk is neither here nor there, he may have had half a cup for breakfast and that was it. Typically asians don't consume a whole lot of dairy products.

Plus remember people with exceptionally long life are the exception and not the rule.. now if we had entire populations living into their 100s with milk as a SIGNIFICANT dietary staple, you might have an argument. What about the typical american diet which is loaded with cereal with milk as part of a 'balanced breakfast'...

What about the French woman who lived until she was 121, smoked all her life and drank a lot? I guess we can put her long life down to cigarettes and alcohol!

If milk is natural, why isn't cream natural, why isn't cheese natural and why isn't butter natural? I have no idea what point you're trying to make. A lot of things which are natural are not healthy. Go eat some digitalis and experience the awesome health benefits!

WHFoods is good for looking up nutrient contents and interesting properties of fruits and vegetables though.

There is no need for this guide

Eat your meat and eggs
Eat fresh fatty fish
Eat plenty of vegetables
Eat grains occasionally
Eat cheese and cream occasionally
Eat almonds and cashews occasionally
Cook exclusively with butter, EV olive oil, and lard

Drink plenty of water
Drink plenty of green & white tea
Drink milk occasionally if you wish

Take a good multivitamin
Take fish oil capsules

Stay away from:
Sugars, corn starch, excessive sodium, hydrogenated & partially hydrogenated oils, preservatives, excessive omega-6, cigarettes, and excessive alcohol.

If you stick to that and make sure you eat when your hungry and drink before you get thirsty, then you don't even have to worry about quantities, timing, carb timing, and details to LOOK and BE healthy.

The one obstacle standing between people and at least GOOD health is.... their mind. You wake up and reach for the lucky charms, muffins and pancakes. For dinner you head to mcdonalds or subway, and go to bed at 3AM.

Not that I don't do that sometimes :) But eating and being healthy is NOT hard.

Butter is concentrated crap.

Butter is produced by churning cream until the fats separate from the liquid (buttermilk) and the butter is in a semi-solid state.

http://webexhibits.org/butter/making.html

How cheese is made is nasty as well.

Rennet contains a milk-coagulating enzyme and is traditionally made from the inner lining of a calf's stomach. Rennet is added to the milk to begin the formation of curd which, takes about 1 hour.

As for the heart clogging stuff I've heard about from cheese, I won't get into it as I don't know much about it.

So.. this is the way to get cheese and cream, naturally - nothing added nor taken away. Natural products from nature just like your soybeans and grains. Why are they worse?

And for the record.. whey is a byproduct of cheese manufacture, is protein powder unhealthy too? (incidentally I don't think it's the best thing in the world..)

I don't know where you get that cream doesn't have anything added to it. I just looked at some Cream Cheese a second ago(fridge at work) and it had more then 10 ingredients listed.

cream cheese is NOT cream.

it's just soft cheese with added ingredients/stabilisers/etc. processed cheese.

I'm talking about blocks of cheddar, real cream.. that sort of thing.

Here is some info on some high-end cheese from Tillamook.

What are the ingredients used to make Tillamook cheese?

The ingredients used to make Tillamook cheddar cheese include cultured milk, enzymes, salt, and annatto. All of our cheeses are made with a microbial/vegetable based enzymes, with the exception of Tillamook Vintage White Medium Cheddar Cheese and Tillamook Vintage White Extra Sharp Cheddar Cheese, which use a traditional rennet.

http://www.tillamookcheese.com/FAQS/Cheese_Questions.aspx

There is stuff added to cheese and it get's worse as it gets cheaper.

Trust me,I wish cheese was healthy I was eating 3-5 slices a day in my sandwhiches a year ago. Shot,I was used to eat a half a block of cheese a day if I could for protein. The stuff taste good,I'm not gonna lie,but it's not worth it if your health and body are your no.1 priority.

see above - I'm talking about cheddars, ricotta, mozzarella etc made from rennet, not processed cheese. it's like comparing luncheon meat to steak.

Okay said asian man might be the longest living male today, but asian diets are horrible, you never get on any descent muscles and it's REALLY easy to put on fat, trust me I'm asian. Please do NOT follow an advice based on an asian diet.

My friend who sticks to his Chinese Culture doesn't eat that bad.

His main foods are chow mein, chicken, rice and soup. That's not that bad at all.

I know alot of it is greasy but not all of it is.

The grease is not what i'm worried about.

It's the HORRIBLE imbalanced ratio of Carbs:protein

You eat like a TRUE asian (like my mom/dad/uncle/grandma/WHATEVER) This is how you eat:

1 handsized bowl of rice (you know what bowls i'm talking about you get them at chinese restaurants)

You eat it with maybe two chunks of meat about the size of half a Quacker's chewy granola bar each.

Then you have a plate of vegetables that you just throw in wherever.

It's like 70% carbs to 25% protein 5% fat (not including grease/oil)
